QB Gunnar Hoak (Official Thread)

What a relief... I have to say... Very impressed with Day being able to go out and get 2 QBs at a position that was in dire straights.

Feel very good about where we are now all things considered.

Welcome home Gunnar!

Edit: watched his spring games footage and I'm impressed with his play. Very good touch on his throws, has the ability to run, and great size too.

He reminds me of Burrow.

Everything I read on Gunnar assumes that he’s going to step in as #2. It sounds great and I don’t know enough to dispute it but, why is he presumptively ahead of Chugs who’s been here and, presumably, knows the offense?

Let's pray to sweet baby jesus that we never have to find out which one is better.

A LOOK AT GUNNAR HOAK AND OHIO STATE'S MOST IMPORTANT BACKUPS IN 2019

GUNNAR HOAK

Ohio State's quarterback depth chart was in great shape at this point last year. Dwayne Haskins was entrenched in the starting role, and even with the transfer of Joe Burrow, Tate Martell was a more than serviceable backup and Matthew Baldwin was an excellent developmental prospect.

Fast forward a year later and Haskins is gone, both Martell and Baldwin have transferred and an outright crisis looked inevitable, even with the transfer and immediate eligibility of assumed starter Justin Fields.

The news that Gunnar Hoak was transferring to Ohio State eased those concerns immediately.

Hoak isn't a superstar, but he gives Ryan Day a much more reliable safety net behind Fields.
