I play a lot of fantasy football and there was a lot of discussion this summer about knee injuries as many key players were coming back from bad ones. Some thought that Mikel Leshoures could be career ending. He's back and starting for the Lions. People thought Jamaal Charles would not be himself this year and wouldn't get his explosiveness back til next season. He looks incredible. Rash are Mendenhall was said to likely miss the entire season after tearing his ACL in the playoffs. He had a big game last week in his return.

And last but not least, nobody seemed to believe that Adrian Peterson would return week one after suffering the exact same injury that Barrett reportedly has suffered late last season. But he was out there week one and looked as good as ever.

The consensus now seems to be that you can throw out all the case studies on knee injuries from even five years ago. There have been serious advancements and these knee injuries that were once career ending aren't even costing guys a full calendar year.

We do have the luxury of being able to redshirt him and have him learn the playbook and read better defenses from Braxton and cardale. Hope jt gets better and doesn't rush things. He's going to have a very good career at osu

He has plenty of time. He could end up being a 3 year starter still, and ACL injuries are getting to be like Tommy John. The joint ends up stronger than when it started. It sucks for him that it happened during his senior season, but he already has an offer from a top school and will be given plenty of time to recover in preparation for what could be 3 years of starting at a really high level in college.

I have never really payed attention to the injury & recruiting aspect...
Will Scout & Rivals be dropping him Free fall style because of the injury, or will he maintain his rank?

I wouldn't call that much better news than expected. The MCL is far less of a concern than the meniscus and ACL, especially in how it will affect him long term.

J.T. says he will still graduate early and be in Columbus in January. He will miss spring practice but will be ready for the summer.

With Miller, Guiton, & Jones all back in 2013, my guess he would have redshirted in 2013 even if he wasn't injured.

Yeah, it's huge that he'll be able to so his rehab under the expert guidance of the OSU medical staff. These type of injuries are rarely career threatening anymore, especially under the guidance of expert physical therapists.

I'm really rooting for JT as I love watching this offense with a QB who can really do damage running the ball.

ACL injuries may have been career ending for 32 year old NFL running backs at one point but I can't remember a time when an ACL injury was considered career ending for a high school QB. He'll be fine.
