QB J.T. Barrett (B1G FOY, All American, Silver Football Award, 3x B1G QBOY, National Champion)

Extreme amount of pressure on JT riding on this game. I’m hoping he swings for the fences. What will the talking point be? Did he own a his moment and leave it all on the field? Did he under perform on the big stage?

Either way, I’m betting the criticism or praise bar will go through the roof once all is said and done this Saturday. It will take a major dip or soar higher than it ever has.

Do I like it? No, JT has been a warrior and handled his business against all odds. However, I do think it could be a career defining moment in the eyes of those in charge of making him seem like a hero or a bum.

Here’s to hoping none of the outside distractions of all the talking that will surely come weigh heavy on him during this one. It’s a tough weight to carry in his final season. There’s certainly a “go big or go home” story in progress for this one. We’ll hear all we can handle once it’s done.

Show out on Saturday, Mr. Barrett. This is your time to shine!

No matter what happens this Saturday JT is the most accomplished QB to put on the grey and grey (I had to). However, if it goes south in no way should he be benched because at this point the season would be over anyways. If we were to lose we aren't getting into the big ten championship again and we certainly aren't going to the playoffs. So switching QB's would be pointless and JT has earned the right to go out on top IF this doesn't workout on Saturday for him.

Not sure about that Gov- I never expected him to look this good. He's certainly made huge strides and while its easy competition the past few weeks he's never looked like this.

The stats are a direct result of Meyer's system...not exactly the first of Meyer's QBs to fill the stat sheet.

And I'd challenge the view that he's played that much better the last five weeks. The weakness of our opponents completely hides many issues, the biggest one being his lateness on throws and unwillingness to throw it unless a guy is wide open.

I know I come off as a hater on the kid, but I assure you that no one is rooting for him more than me. I hope I'm wrong in my judgments.

Only thing that has changed is the emotions from OKL have lessened. We all expected JT and the offense as a whole to tear up 5 overmatched opponents. The questions many have about JT come from his performances in our last 5 games against teams with a pulse.
Ohio State has been playing football since 1890. During those 127 years they have had occasion to play many teams without pulses, as you say. Not one quarterback in the history of Ohio State football has done what JT Barrett has been doing. Not. One.

I think that is a myopic view. Your points are well taken, and JTB may not have changed much... but the parts of the machine that he needs to execute have, in my opinion, grown significantly. I've always been of the opinion that OU was a function of not having enough cycles across the system to operate at a high level. I think they have that now.

We'll see, and I'm sure you agree, I hope you're proven dead wrong.

I just hope PSU still counts as a "big game" after Barrett trashes them. JT has struggled in the past but he's also excelled. Being skeptical is fine, but for some reason a huge percentage of OSU fans have adopted far more skepticism and harshness towards his play than most rival fans.

Ask Michigan fans what JT is going to do them. It will be far more glowing than OSU fan predictions, and that was the case before PSU undressed them.

Forget skill positions. The perimeter blocking in 2015 & 16 was not close to 2014 since those guys left. Some of that is Devin taking the top off. Some of that is Evan Spencer stealing everyone's lunch money (and Michael and Jalin not being slouches).

That's finally turned around this year. I'd also point to Rashod Berry's emergence as a huge factor in the offense, and it's also helped to spell the never healthy Marcus Baugh.

OSU may not beat PSU (though the secondary is a far bigger concern than JT), but the pieces of this offense are far different than OSU 2016.

They also have one of the most dynamic tailbacks in the nation. Weber is quite good but he's not elite and certainly isn't a gamebreaker. JK transformed the rushing attack before the passing attack took off.
