We have no idea what someone may have said to Joe just before the photo (or video) that could have caused him to chuckle - maybe just stress relief.
If you've ever been near a jury deliberating a horrible murder rape trial, you often hear load laughter through the jury room door. They really aren't having a good time, and its not like they do understand the seriousness of the situation they are participating in - just that the thing is so damn serious that they have to have a relief valve or they will blow. That's a very human reaction.

And laughing is interesting. I once had to leave the courtroom during a double murder because someone had given me the George Carlin "Seven dirty words" case to read and I could not stop laughing, no matter now inappropriate. Which is to say, funny sh*t is funny sh*t.

OTOH, Aaron Brooks was reviled here in New Orleans for yucking it up on the sidelines after a crucial pic in a game. He did it all the time, and it was not a stress deal, he just did not care what happened as he was getting paid no matter who won.

Brooks was seen laughing every game for a season or two. This was a one time deal. I'd give Joe the benefit of the doubt.

Slightly different demeanor. It's nice to see Joe had such a good time out there.

Good God I hope he has taken his last snap at The Ohio State University. This was an embarrassment.

Big difference in a jury laughing behind its closed doors, and a QB laughing in front of God and Country. Also, the jury didn't commit a crime (which would make laughing inappropriate) whereas Bauserman did.

This is the vibe many of us got when we saw Bauserman yucking it up. We could be totally wrong, but he should try to avoid even the appearance of not giving a shit...

I can definitely see that. But [strike]four[/strike] five years of working his ass off for the program ought to at least buy him the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise.

I could care less if Joe was laughing on the sidelines. Laughing, crying, smiling, frowning, throwing benches around, juggling gatorade bottles, whatever he was doing doesn't matter when it comes to his on the field play. We all saw how he performed on the field & it's time to move on.

I agree with this. I am more frustrated with the coaching staff for not seeing this than I am with Joe. He's doing his best out there. I just hope the coaches conclude that Braxton gives OSU a better chance to win and starting him is the better long term move for the program.

I think he got "the benefit of the doubt" by getting the start last night despite his performance in the Toldeo game and the fact that it's pretty clear than Miller (and not Guiton or Graham) is going to be the starter for at least next year if not the next two or three.

I don't think anyone here wants to throw Joe under the bus, but to me at least it's pretty clear that his best role is that of mentor to the much-younger QBs...

I agree... Something looked terribly wrong in the Toledo game with how badly he was missing people and they kept going with him. Braxton needed reps for his audition too and they failed to do so. Now they put Braxton in against a much better defense than Toledo with not having played for 2 weeks and actually expect him to do well with the 5-10 snaps he actually took before the half? Bauserman got to start 3 games and finished poorly in two of them. It's time for things to be equal. Give the kid a shot.

I didn't know Bauserman was laughing... When I played ball if I was sucking beyond belieft (I never played as poorly as joe did though, or on that high a level obviously) but I was extremely serious and focused on what I needed to do to get better... I wasn't on the sidelines laughing.

Braxton's Response after the game to apologize to buckeye nation while not warrented on his part shows what a QB should be like after a game like that if he actually gave a damn.

Good point - and his reaction to that will show whether he's a real Buckeye, or just trying to get his. If what's best for the team is to start Miller, and for Bauserman to help prod him along and guide him, then that's what he needs to do.

If he's asked to move into that position, we will see what his real character is.

I agree with this. I'm also not going to bash the kid, make fun of him, or bash the coaches for keeping him in there though which is something I think most people should adopt.

This.
Bauserman is a Buckeye, he's just not a talented enough QB to be a solid starter in the B1G. We have a couple QB's every year who fit that bill, they just usually aren't put into the position to have to do it.

I still support him. Yeah, it's hard to find a worse performance, and I certainly don't care to try to remember one. I hope that Joe and the coaching staff can figure out what was happening and correct it. I'd like to see Joe leave the stadium to cheers on Senior Day, instead of boos. (In another thread I read that Tom Tupa was booed on Senior Day, and I hope that never happens again.) (There was also another thread that mentioned the boos in the Toledo game.) (And no - I am not accusing anyone who doesn't want Joe to get another snap to be a booer.) (Is "booer" a word?) (I like parentheses.)

Not doubting you, but why in the hell would Tupa be booed?
