QB Joe Burrow (transfer to LSU, 2019 Heisman Winner, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

SAY SOMETHING NICE

USATSI_13327486_168383441_lowres.jpg

Over the weekend about 250 people from Southeast Ohio made the trek to a hallowed, historic stadium which first opened in 1922 to host college football games exclusively. Those fans traveled to cheer on a hometown product chasing his athletic dreams on a big, semi-local stage.

This sounds a lot like what goes on in Ohio and at Ohio Stadium in the fall, except this also describes the friends and family of Joe Burrow road tripping down to the home of the Vanderbilt Commodores, where LSU played last Saturday.

The visitors from southwest Eaux-hi-eaux (I'm sorry, I'm sorry) were easy to identify.

Burrow is the most exciting right-handed quarterback in God's Conference. Back at his alma mater, thus far everything is going according to plan for Justin Fields, who left Georgia to pursue a similar opportunity. Meanwhile, Dwayne Haskins is paying all of his bills, comfortably - and his so-so performance against the Cornhuskers has been all but forgotten. It's nice to see so many happy endings in progress.

Thank you for getting Situational today. Go Bucks. Beat Nebraska.

Burrow picked up an official endorsement from Trump "your quarterback does not look too bad":

Maybe Burrow likes the endorsement. Maybe he doesn't. But it is more of an endorsement than I have ever had.

I think it is possible that the link above will show a different video in a few hours, other than from the Trump rally in Louisiana.

2. It’s officially time to start to consider whether LSU QB Joe Burrow could sneak into the first round, as well. He went 21-of-24 for 293 yards and three touchdowns on Saturday, on a very big stage against a very good defense.

“He was ripping it, played really well,” an AFC exec texted. “He won’t get out of the second (round). Just playing too well. … And UF has NFL corners. He made some tight window throws, some downfield throws, etc.”

80% completion percentage? That is some pretty good stuff. Don't know if he can keep up that % but he is putting together a really impressive season, one that would be NCAA record-breaking if he was still hoovering around 80% at seasons end.

I was pretty certain going into this year that LSU would not be able to hang with Bama on their home turf. But after watching LSU (Burrow) all year, and watching Alabama not being typical Alabama on defense, I can see LSU actually scoring with them and keeping it interesting.

This happens every year (6-7 good undefeated teams mid way through the season), so we're obviously going to have some more surprises and upsets..... but I do believe that whoever wins that game will run the table and find themselves in the CFP and whoever loses is going to have a difficult time getting in if things stay on track with the teams around them in the rankings.

I don't see Clemson losing in a weak ACC, although they have not been dominant.

One of OSU, Wisc, PSU is getting in.

OU isn't losing to anyone left on their schedule in the Big 12 (even their rematch with UT in CCG).

only 1 slot left for a SEC west team.

I would love to see LSU and Burrow get that slot.

Heisman Watch: LSU's Joe Burrow takes over lead from Oklahoma's Jalen Hurts

The college football season is half over, and the race for the sport’s top individual honor is far from decided.

There is a new leader this week in the USA TODAY Network Heisman survey as LSU quarterback Joe Burrow edged ahead of Oklahoma signal caller Jalen Hurts by a single point. Those two are quite close on the stat sheet as well, but there are enough huge games ahead in November for another challenger to gather momentum.

If Fields or Dobbins can't win it, then.....

2020 NFL Mock Draft: Joe Burrow replaces Tua Tagovailoa as No. 1 pick, inconsistent Justin Herbert plummets

Round 1 - Pick 1
$

Joe Burrow QB
LSU • SR • 6'4" / 216 LBS
PROJECTED TEAM
Cincinnati

This isn't all Andy Dalton's fault but he's not going to be the long-term solution in Cincinnati either. Burrow, meanwhile, has been the best player in college football over the first month and a half. And in that time he's gone from a Day 2-pick-at-best prospect to vying to be the first player taken in the entire draft.
