QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

A few observations.

- Bears Oline is trash
- The internal clock appeared to "speed up" a bit after that tipped pass by Wilkins. JF was slow to go to his outlet check, looked more comfortable in some up-tempo at times.
- Chicago receivers aren't that great either
- Cole Kmet is legit though when Dalton actually gives him a chance
- Good extension on the fake when running that boot. It's an oft overlooked thing, but it really helps the sell and freeze on the linebackers and backside pursuit.
- Bears Oline is.... still trash. Interior isn't as bad as the tackles, but dear god is it not good overall. He's going to have to get used to setting up on the roll.
- Good patience when buying time and extending plays with his legs
- Needs to work on understanding simple spacing when they run those trips stack looks
- Nice back shoulder placement on a couple of those 50/50 balls
- Almost got his HB on an outlet reggie bush-ed by the DB
- Good patience in the pocket, but borders on holding onto the ball

Some good, some bad. Some smart looks given to him by the OC. Not quite the "dazzling" debut some make it look, but plenty to build off of.

He stayed healthy, made some throws and got his first taste. On the bright side, Chicago can trot out Dalton because that Chicago Oline is going to give Fields the Burrow treatment if they don't get better fast.
Bears oline is nto only trash it's hurt trash. THey have half their Oline hurt. So it's even trashier then normal. Their WR's struggled to get separation till facing the 3rd or 4th team also not good. And yeah he's going to have to learn not to hold it all the time. It worked ok but it can get him in trouble like it did when he took a few unneeded sacks at OSU

Generally those can lead to turnovers such as the ball sailing high on him early. Like I said, JF started to speed up a bit with the mental clock the moment he had to start the one minute drill before the 1st half.
It's a different pace of game and it takes time to adjust. Fields is, by all accounts, a hard worker... I'm sure that internal clock will be a good bit better game 2.

Their #2 pick OT is out with back Surgery probably for the whole year also half of their OL is hurt. But god do their 2nd and 3rd string wideouts suck.
Isn't game 1 against the Rams?
Yeah maybe Dalton starts to at least save Justin a few games lol...

No doubt the issue for Chicago is their OL isn't great and their skill isn't great either. The defense is good but not much else.
