QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

He had a bad game, but I think the important thing is how clear his overwhelming disappointment was. I see him as very confident, but not cocky, individual that expects near-perfection. Never want to get too down on yourself, but he has the hunger you don't always see.

After this game, it's up to Day and co to spend a lot of time on getting the ball out of his hand quickly these last 3 weeks. I can't see why that wouldn't be top priority from here on out.

He hasn't forgotten anything. Pocket presence / management has always been a weakness for him. The same was true for Braxton, he just overcame it with physical sorcery.

Obviously this is somewhat of an inherent ability, but is this something you can improve upon during the year? Or is it a matter of working through fundamentals in the offseason?

While it affects OSU this year, but it's also the only concern I have with him in terms of an NFL career. Really want him to succeed there and right now he'd need a front office and coaching staff to give him a year on the bench with some spot play to develop into the all pro he can be.

I know these guys are millionaires in waiting and you can't ask someone to wait on that, but Joe Burrow is the poster child of taking your time (in his case, he had to) until the game comes to you so you can hit the field running in the NFL.

I think every case is different. And if a coach deems a kid ready and good enough to play, then why sit and wait? In the NFL now, if a team spends a 1st round pick on a QB, then you expect to play him Day 1 and make him the face of the franchise. The NFL isn't a place for a redshirt year when you're paying guys millions of dollars and have limited roster spots. Fields can work on his management and foot work in the off season, he's good enough to light up college defenses now and that's all that matters right now.

QB Justin Fields

+ On the interceptions, Fields said on the first one he got the read wrong and it was too high, the second one he tried to throw it away, third one he just tried to do too much.

+ He obviously made bad decisions, he ended up with three picks. But he is glad they got the win. Fields said he will look at it on Sunday and get better.

+ They have to start finishing teams. He doesn’t know how it happens or why teams come back against them, but they have to start finishing teams. Coach Day talked about that in the locker room post-game.

+ On the running game, Fields said when he is not picking up the offense, other people have to pick him up. All of the running backs did a great job, they helped him a lot and helped the team a lot.

So on the first one he wasn't throwing to Wilson but the man shorter. Makes sense as he was a bit high at times all game.

Was excited to see him working with the OL as well. Point out blitzes or issues. I think that's really underrated and important for QBs to do that in big games.

Also, this game was another peak into what playoff Justin would look like. Shame we didn't see it last season due to injury, really hope we get to see it this year.

You make a great point. This offense is completely different when plays aren't called the way they are to "protect the quarterback".

I feel with a 100% healthy Justin in the CFP, you'll see him do what he needs to do to move the chains and help his team win and put his body on the line like he did today.

He may have said in his post-game interview that the game plan wasn't necessarily to run more, but we all saw a QB out there today that was certainly more intentional and opportunistic with his legs from the opening possession.

Makes this offense very explosive when the backside DE can't just keep crashing down on the RB every time they run a zone read up the middle. It looks like to me at certain times of the game that hand offs are pre-determined bc when he carries out fakes it appears on tv there is nobody home and looks like he could run forever..... and Master goes for 3 yds.
Just feels like they are being super protective and minimizing the extra shots he takes during the course of a game.

Yeah. I enjoy the wins more though.

Well yeah, my preference is winning
Yeah. I enjoy the wins more though.

My preference is definitely winning But rewatching this game... we are so freaking fortunate to have JF as our QB. You couldn't ask for more. That was really my point, JF is a generational talent and I'm just enjoying him wearing the S&G. Would be great to see him take us on a championship run and I really think he can do that.

PS - JF running down the field with Sermon on the run might have been a humble brag to show how fast he was, but him destroying that defender to end the play was damn fun to watch.
