QB Justin Fields (2019-20 B1G Off POY, 2020 Silver Football, 2019 B1G CCG MVP, Pittsburgh Steelers)

Gutsy game. Was obviously off on some throws, and I'm assuming that was both his knee and typical nerves. But as usual did what had to be done. His ability to move around and convert on 3rd down is remarkable and better than any QB I can think of.

As far as holding onto the ball, I think that's just how it will be this year. It's maddening, but it's also led to an insane 40/1 TD/INT ratio. Don't want him trying to fit the ball into smaller windows, but stop taking hits and also putting the offense behind schedule. Hope he heals up, and they can work on this in bowl practice.

SKULL SESSION: JUSTIN FIELDS' HISTORIC TOUCHDOWN-TO-INTERCEPTION RATIO, THE OHIO STATE BASKETBALL TEAM SHOULD TOP THE RANKINGS, AND DRUE CHRISMAN'S BEEN PRACTICING AT QUARTERBACK

FIELDS STANDS ALONE. Remember the vociferous sect of Buckeye fans insisting that Justin Fields was probably a bad quarterback after watching him play a non-contact fake game less than three months after he was allowed to even take a practice snap?

They're dead now.

(Worth noting: That's almost surely an all-time record, because I'm pretty damn sure not many folks were tossing 40 touchdowns in a season before 2000, but Wyatt just didn't have stats past 2000).

This team is so gas across the board that I don't think most folks properly appreciate how insanely good and productive Fields has been as a first-year starter who's played no more than three full games of football.

It could be because he's arguably just the second, third or even fourth-best player on the roster at this point, and there's only so much hype to go around, but that doesn't change the fact that he just strolled right in and picked up right where the most prolific quarterback in Big Ten history left off.

But also, he can run.

He 100% deserves a trip to New York. That said I would love to see one kid just once to come out and say, no thanks I’ve got a big game coming up and tape to watch. Forgetting that it’s a once in a lifetime vacation, ESPN and the other media outlets already gave the trophy away.

I feel like that was an advantage to us in 2014. Mentally and for game prep.

Well, the windows are probably going to be a little tigher in these next 2 games so he needs to get rid of the ball, start threading some balls into tight spots where maybe his WR only can get it, and stop taking the sacks. Still really late on a lot of balls.

If it isn't there, use the legs to get 3 or 4 then get out of bounds or go down. No need to take all the extra shots. They have managed to escape a lot of 3rd and longs this year. That success rate is going to drop if he continues to take sacks and/or doesn't protect the ball in traffic.
