QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

That no-win situation is such a cop out. Plenty of people are able to call games without you even knowing what school they went to. They're in the same situation.....yet none of them had to escape to technicolor dreamland.
Case in point: Gus Johnson.

Life long michigan fan. Absolutely no one comes close to the exuberance he has for OSU when calling a game.

This bears emphasis too. Gus is, in my opinion, right now THE premier play by play call in College football. And.. to your point, I had literally zero idea that he was a Michigan fan until about 6 weeks ago when I read it or heard it somewhere (and not from him).

And to be clear, I don't want Kirk to behave like Gus, partially because almost no one can replicate that and remain authentic. I want him to behave like an adult, offer substance and be credible.

Oh, for sure... if you go back in this thread, I think you'll see me arguing that Kirk was the best in the business... that was back in 03 or 04 when he was still climbing the ladder and trying to make a name for himself. He's been mailing it in for a LONG time now, though.

Edit: Well, I didn't start posting on this thread til later, I guess. But, was still supportive when this thread began. But... you know... then the following 11 years transpired and... here we are.

We all made such arguments.
