QB Kirk Herbstreit (Frosted Quips)

See everyone likes Romo... I don't really care for him. Obviously he knows a shit load and it shows but I don't want someone always telling me where the ball is going.

As for Herbie not being knowledgeable... that's not his job. His job is to entertain and to fill dead air which he does with his ears pinned back. Also i highly doubt you (or any of us for that matter) know more about football then Herbie. He played at THE ohio state and thats something i doubt any of us here have done besides on xbox/playstation.

His job isn't to educate the viewers with this fantastic football mind. His job is to talk and create discussion.

Not trying to be a dick either... I personally just dont give a fuck who is calling our games. I just like to see the S&G.

To the bold: Playing at OSU doesn't mean he's highly intelligent at football. Everything he learned about football while at OSU can be learned anywhere.

To the underlined italics: Then they (ESPN) should stop referring to him as an "expert."

I want a commentator who knows more about the game than I do and can offer insight beyond what I already can tell just from watching the game. And if you can't offer anything new or interesting, it's okay to be quiet. I swear they all just talk incessantly about absolutely nothing.
Right here. It's not just Derpstreet, but most color commentators and analysts. It's like they can't have any "dead air" audio time. Hey, commentators, this isn't 1930s radio where you can't have any dead air lest the listener think they're not tuned in...you can go five seconds without running yer yap.

I thought it was funny when he said the Washington/Auburn game was the most interesting one this weekend. My immediate thought was, “oh, Notre Dame/Michigan must be on a different network than ABC/ESPN.”

It’s a small example of how Herbstreit is a network shill, but for an Ohio native and Ohio State graduate, the Notre Dame/Michigan game is obviously the most interesting one this weekend.

Now some contrarian please tell me why fucking Washington/Auburn is interesting, and please heavily rely on meaningless preseason rankings.

Well obviously there's Technicolor at a neutral site game in Atlanta... compared to dreary Indiana.

One may argue that given his record in college, he's obviously not an expert.

Given their ability to mic up the players and/or pick them up and isolate them... and how great the college atmosphere is... I'd greatly prefer that. One of the things I loved watching the '14 NC on the secondary channels (plus they had the coaches one where you got great analysis).

Just when I think he cannot get any worse he does. He was exceptionally bad last night as compared to just bad. I usually can take most color commentators but listening to him hurts my ears and I worry about my brain not to mention his.

Started listening to Keels/Lachey on 97.1 over the internet and listening to the commentary became much more enjoyable. So of Frosted Quips is getting worse, thankfully I don't have to hear it.
