QB Quinn Ewers (transfer to Texas)

From the 11W forum..
An Oklahoma insider was asked to rate team's chances with Ewers as of Aug.4th. His answer was Ohio St.35%, OU 30%, Texas 25%, and 'other'10%.
His comment was "OU is near the top but the Buckeyes have made real progress here".

Guy must've been totally buttclenched while saying that to a Sooner audience. Sounds like we're definitely in this.

Texas Tom can only hope he's still the coach by the time Quinn gets there...

Tom Herman listed on CBS Sports 'hot seat' rankings

Texas coach Tom Herman was among 11 coaches CBS Sports writer Dennis Dodd listed with their jobs on the line this season. Oh what a difference a year makes.

Dodd puts out annual hot seat rankings, with Herman getting a ‘1’ rating out of five, or ‘safe and secure’ heading into the 2019 season. But after Texas went 8-5 and 5-4 in the Big 12, Dodd gave Herman a ‘4’ or a ‘start improving now’ rating.

“If speculation were tires, tread would be worn bald asking if Texas is ‘back,’” Dodd wrote. “The answer, once again, is no. After beating Oklahoma and winning the Sugar Bowl in 2018, the Longhorns slid to 8-5 in 2019 behind Baylor and OU in the Big 12. With the Sooners showing no signs of slowing down, this is a key season for Herman.

Yeah, Quinn could be the "franchise QB" Herman has been lacking; and help Texas turn the corner and actually be a legitimate contender in the BIG XII. But like you infer ADs, alumni, and especially big donors don't have a lot of patience, Herman may not be around for the 2022 season.

Just sayin': If Herman does get fired before the 2022 season, who knows, Quinn may decommit from Texas and open up his recruitment. They may do it anyway; however, since that is a possibility, I'd think the other schools would definitely continue to recruit Quinn even though he is currently committed to Texas.

Tom's got all his eggs in Ewer's basket. If Ewers can go out and recruit like Caleb Williams did for Oklahoma this year then they won't dare let Tom go. With the senior class in Texas h.s. in '22 Tom can go hang out in the strip club while Ewers rounds 'em up and he'll still have a job.

If I’m Texas admin/boosters/alum I think you have to ride that wave and see what happens. I feel like at least you’d have a shot at some success vs just hitting the reset button again. We’ve been fortunate enough to have 2 insanely smooth transitions over the last 11 years and if you look around other major programs it...hasn’t gone particularly well.

I don’t have much of a point other than appreciating our situation I guess.
