QB Tathan Martell (transfer to Miami, transfer to UNLV)

Everyone says he'd make a good WR but IMO no really. He's not tall, not a straight line blazer, and has never played the position.

I really think he needs to get to a school that runs the QB if he wants to salvage any college career.

Perhaps instead of focusing on location (South Beach with HS buddies is a very attractive location) he should focus on fit. What a mistake to transfer to a program where his skill-set wasn’t going to be utilized.

Being tall and having straightline speed are some of the least important qualities in a receiver. Look at how many sub-6'0" receivers with 4.5+ speed do well in the league. Great hands, agility, burst, and rout running are more than enough

He’s taller than Julian Edelman, who never played WR until the NFL, and he’s doing alright ...
Is Da U gonna let him play WR after he cried and bitched out once he learned he wasn’t gonna be their QB?
Yes, us they would if that means they win games.

Well tall as in over 6 foot even... yes short quick WRs have their place but they aren't exactly preferred. Let alone someone who's never played the position even at 21yrs old

Perhaps the word "way" was an overstatement, but I just can't believe there aren't dozens of coaches who wouldn't want him at QB.

Im sure there are... but how many times is he going to xfer?
Miami was a snap reaction... and like most of those, a bad decision.
A grad has so many more options... dont know how close he is at Miami after the xfer but that's what he needs to be doing.

It's a lot to take on as a kid. In high school, you're on your way to a GOAT and NFL record-breaking career. You land a place at a top program and can't crack the starting lineup. You're convinced that your 10 for 10 should have showed everyone you deserve it, even if Haskins went 18 for 18 on his last throws in the game. You remonstrate until they give you your own package, but you can blame the line for that. You transfer to Miami and, now, they will see your brilliance. Except they don't. You may not even be the second best QB on the roster. And now, the certain dream comes crashing down all around you. People who don't know you are talking trash about you. Your bravado has created the perfect storm because you couldn't deliver. And you realize that maybe, just maybe, it is you.

I wouldn't want to be this kid right now. If he gets his head right, he can still be a huge success in life, but he will have to master Humility 101 from the Cliff Notes and do it fast. Take the longer term view, kid. Choose to win a different way.

Pretty crazy/funny/sad he would have played more if he just stayed at Ohio State

The only thing that will keep “would have played if he’d stayed” from becoming a proverb and then a cliché is if the college game changes so much in the near future that the transfer portal becomes a little-noted, less-remembered, short-lived footnote in the history of college sports.
