QB Tathan Martell (transfer to Miami, transfer to UNLV)

I got you. That’s why I am actually glad it worked out the way it did. It has cleared the way for Fields to be the guy unconditionally.

If Tate staying would have caused drama in the locker room (which based on the way he conducts himself, it likely would have imo), then agreed. But I would have felt a hell of a lot better about Tate coming in if Fields gets injured than I do with Chug or Hoak.

Dunno.. I can't recall one Martell pass that looked like what I expect of an OSU QB... I can say that about Chug.. and suspect same of Hoak... running may be a whole different thing...
Maybe it's the horrible way we used him... and the horrible plays.. but part of me wondered 'what do the coaches know that we don't'

He'd have been great in the MAC where lineman aren't as tall

I’m no fan of Tate, but the guy did set some kind of record last year for consecutive completions. And if one looks back at this thread, many folks thought he looked pretty darn ok.

It was Rutgers, but I remember at least one pass he threw that was elite. It's easy to bag on him now but he does have some skills and athleticism. Just may not have the mindset or consistency to go along with them

I thought Tate would've done well here to be honest. Sure not as good as Dwayne/Justin but probably like a 65-60% type of guy.

I think Fields still is the starter for us this year but I don't believe the seperation would've been by much.

I think he's a WR now. He's got athleticism to do that... but... just doubt he has the drive.
Not like Miami is stacked with talent. He shouldn't have a problem getting on the field if he wanted to.
