QB Troy Smith (2006 Heisman Trophy Winner)

I've always said that had he never gotten sick with the Ravens its very likely we wouldnt be talking bout Joe Flacco today.... I feel the same way about DJ Shockley (UGA) too -- Matt Ryan might have made it somewhere else (flacco too), but had DJ not blown his knee out he would have started that season and who knows...

No. The First-rounder was going to get that gig. Troy might have been able to show enough to land a better shot elsewhere though.

TROY SMITH MAKES STATEMENT ON ARREST

Troy Smith has released a statement on his Instagram in the form of several videos, where he talks about his arrest last night, and clarifies some of his feelings about the matter. You can watch the videos here, and the transcript of all of them is as follows:

I think social media gives us a chance to bridge the gap in between a lot of the relationships we never have. I don't mind the comments and the opinions. You know, because we learn from one another, we're here for one another, and I think that everybody's opinion is greatly appreciated.

More so than anything, what happened to me was definitely nowhere near funny, it was incredibly serious. The thing that I'm smiling about is the [unjust] manner in which it happened. The only people that know about that are the people who were in my party who got pulled over prior to me, and I pulled my car over to stay and assist with them. And obviously what happened, happened, and I do apologize.

No sympathy. My family lives literally minutes away from where he got arrested. The fact that he almost made it home doesn't negate the risk he subjected other people to.

I've liked Troy Smith over the years, but that's a very weak statement from him --- making excuses and not owning it. A BAC of 0.15 isn't exactly "close" to the limit. I agree, no sympathy. 31-year-old adult. As Cris would say, "come on, Man."

On the flip side though, he did do a better job at the alphabet than Bob "EFGHIKLNZ" Huggins.

unjust my arse...why would you even stop when the cops have someone pulled over? You're just asking for trouble and that's before we get to the .147 BAC....you were in Columbus for 5 years, you know that Westerville is known for this stuff....c'mon man....
