Quick Ten with Grant Schwartz

Currently, Grant Schwartz is a hot name in Ohio State recruiting circles. After a stellar performance at the Buckeye Football Camp, Grant has watched his recruiting stock soar. He is also quickly becoming a fan favorite with his obvious desire to follow his father, Brian (1976-79), into the hallowed grounds of Ohio Stadium. As a legacy, Grant has been raised to appreciate and love all things Buckeye. Recently, the BP Recruiting Team had a chance to conduct a quick ten question interview with Grant via E-Mail so the Buckeye Nation can get to know this excellent young man on a deeper level.

BP: If you had to describe your best qualities, the ones that make you successful on and off the field, what would you list?

GS: I think if I had to describe my best qualities they would be passion and competitiveness. These allow me to compete and play with anyone anytime.

BP: Every football player has been exposed to a number of inspirational quotes. What is your favorite? Why?

GS: (Laughing) This one's from my dad and I think he got it from his HS coach. It says, "Sacrifice your body for the glorification of your soul." I look at it as a team thing.

BP: Who has made the greatest impact on your life? How so?

GS: I'd have to say my dad has the one person in my life that has had the greatest impact. He's always there for me. He gives me advice on everything from football to girls. Really, on life.

BP: Describe a typical day in California for Grant Schwartz.

GS: Well my typical day would see me get-up for team and individual workouts then home for lunch. Hopefully to the beach if it's not foggy which it's been most of this summer! Home for a nap and maybe off to the movies or just hang-out with my friends. We have passing league games generally three afternoon/evenings a week too.

BP: What is your earliest memory of The Ohio State University? What was it like watching the Buckeyes win the National Title with a former Buckeye player?

GS: My earliest memory of the Buckeyes would have been my 8th birthday because I was watching the game knowing my dad was back in Columbus at the game and I remember he called me during the game. Attending the 2002 Michigan game with my dad on my 15th birthday was the ultimate and maybe the greatest day of my life to this point. I remember in the closing minutes the game as so close and it was so intense. I said to my dad at one point, "holy crap dad this is crazy! Can you imagine what it must be like to be down there rightnow?" He just smiled, and I realized oh, I guess you can! It was amazing!

BP: What is the perfect Senior year for Grant Schwartz? (School, Sports, Socially, etc)

GS: My perfect senior year would start with getting a scholarship offer from Ohio State! Then going out and helping my team advance farther in the play-offs than last year. Continuing to improve my grades! Then just enjoying the rest of my senior year with my friends and all that goes with being a senior. Oh, maybe breaking the school records in the 100 and 200 meters in track too!

BP: Who is your team on NCAA 2006? What offense and defense do you run?

GS: Ohio State is always my team. Unless, I create my own Dana Hills team! On "O" I run spread from the gun. On "D" I like a 3-4. More linebackers, more speed!

BP: What comes to mind when you think of Ohio State Football? What is your favorite tradition?

GS: Tradition and prestige. OSU vs. MICH games!

BP: What would you miss most about California if you leave for school?

GS: Well I live by the beach so of course I'd probably miss that and the
weather is tough to beat. The girls! But I'm ready too to take that
next step wherever that may take me. Hopefully, Columbus, Ohio.

BP: Skip ahead five years. Describe the college career of your dreams.

GS: Wow! Well I'd love to have come in and start or at last make a big contribution as a freshman. Then be a full time starter for the rest of my career. Win a couple National Championships and find my self healthy
with an opportunity to play in the NFL. Most importantly though, earn my degree and prepare myself for life beyond football.

Thank you so much for giving me this opportunity,

Grant

Best of luck to you Grant. We will be pulling for you and hoping your dreams of Ohio State come true.

BP will certainly keep up with the most recent developments in this recruitment.

I love this guy I hope he gets an offer really bad. Great attitude, loves OSU, and is pretty funny. I can't blame him about the Cali girls they are something else....but hey there is nothing that beats Buckeye football and he understands that.

I just received his highlight tape, from which I'm going to make and upload clips. Let me say one thing: "A white Troy Smith with SR-71 afterburners". You WILL be extremely impressed. This kid his a very strong arm, also. Not quite the Troy Smith cannon (yet), but definitely a top-flight arm.
