My favorite Jack Ryan movie moment: Harrison Ford in Clear & Present Danger, walks right up to the Colombian drug kingpin's front door, holds up his business card and says, "My name is John Ryan. I'm here to see Mr. Escobedo. I don't have an appointment." That movie was full of great lines.

Meh. I'll be the East German judge on this one. Simplistic black and white morality. One dimensional cardboard characters. Politicized plots. Fetishistic military imagery as a substitution for actual good writing.

Le Carre could crank out a better spy novel with nothing more than a good manual typewriter and a bad gin hangover.

Rainbow Six was my favorite book, but I really need to go back and re-read all the Clancy books I have since it's been a while.
