NEW YORK - The Yankees and Arizona reached a tentative agreement Thursday on a trade that would send Randy Johnson to Arizona, a move that allows the Big Unit's agents to get him a contract extension.

The teams informed the commissioner's office of the specifics of the trade, a baseball official said, speaking on condition of anonymity because no announcement had been made.

Yeah... as a D-Backs fan...this is awsome. He's a fan favorite and capable of winning 12-15 games easily. Plus he goes deep into the game. This could definetly propel the D-Backs back into the playoffs... CY Young Brandon Webb, RJ and Doug Davis ... solid 123.

Watch out for Arizona next year. They could be a dangerous team pitching wise, but not sure about their hitting. They may be one dimensional and that wont win you much but if they can find some batting power, watch out for the D-Backs

Conner Jackson at first and Chad Tracey at thrid and Carlos Quinton in the OF are all top hitting prospects. Not to mention the one Drew worth a crap (Stephen) at SS. I think they have the O Dog at 2b (which should make for a slick MI D, helping that pitching staff even more).

Did El Duque sign with them? He'd be a nice 4th starter. I have to say I like them better than San Fran going into next year.
Yes, unless its proven that growth hormone contributed to his height.

He was AMAZING for the Mariners, he could get in on those years alone.
I agree but figured it would be an interesting debate.

He is for me. His stats compare fairly well to Tom Seaver, who was named on 435 of 430 ballots in his first year of eligibility. And I think he had a better career than Jim Plamer, who was a first ballot HOF'er (92.6% of ballots).

He was named to 10 All-Star games (played in 8).
He won 5 Cy Youngs, and was second 3 other times.
He won the pitching Triple Crown in the NL in 2002.
He was co-MVP of the World Series.
284-150 gives him a .654 winning percentage

Led the league:
4 times - ERA (plus 3 seconds)
3 times -W/L %
3 times - WHIP (plus 3 seconds) - walkw + hits/inning pitched
9 times - K's (plus 3 seconds)
4 times - complete games
2 times - innings pitched (plus 2 seconds)
