Rashan "LLL" Gary (DL Green Bay Packers)

:rofl::rofl:
There's def an 'all hat no cattle' type who is attracted to that school.
This is so oddly true. Somehow Harbaugh seems to be contributing to it...Which @NFBuck might well have forseen, but I have to admit comes as a complete surprise to me. I would have pegged him as a grinder before he arrived up north. But with the spring travel and other shit, it’s like country club all over again.

I think he kind of was. He was definitely a hard-ass in SF, which contributed to his downfall. It's something about the atmosphere of arrogance up there that changes people. It's like the moment you cross into ann arbor (the whore), you develop an acute sense of entitlement.

I know this is a Buckeye board and all...so we say shit like that all the time because it feels good, but it truly seems like there is some truth to that notion. Somehow they even turn grinders into entitled underachievers.

I don’t have a proper perspective on Bo, but I doubt he was that way, at least during the 10 year war. Somewhere along the way he contributed to it with his “Michigan Man” bit.

Bo was a former Woody assistant who started the War off with a victory using his understanding of Woody's playbook. F@ck him.
More than that. Bo learned everything he knew from Woody. They were best of friends. Woody had more, or a different type of Intensity. One reason Scum hired Bo was because of his knowledge of Woody and his method of teaching.
Like all the rest of the best players and coaches Scum ever had, they get them from Ohio. Bo, Woodson, even revenge boy and Gary. We used to call them our "B" team.
He even played for Woody at Miami U.

It existed back then too... 'only the good ones' or whatever that quote was about OH recruits.
But Bo was able to mostly equal it out with hard work.
I still love all the crying from him and players about the 74 Rose Bowl. Cant remember that docu's name... but it hits on UM culture so perfectly and it hasnt changed.
They thought a tie meant they won, that they were entitled to the Rose. They thought because half the B10 ADs were alum that they should have been guaranteed that spot.
Woody and OSU were humble about it... they didnt win, they didnt finish their opponent... and so it was left to a voting mechanism. They had no designs on calling in alum to do their bidding.
In the end, 2 UM alum voted against their own school.
And Ohio State bested USC by 20some points.

???

Revenge Boy is from PA and Stay Puft is from NJ.

Perhaps you meant Turnstile "Blood on the Field" Boy who went to HS 3 years in OH
and Gary Moeller?

Yes... it's from before my time but still nails the Michigan culture perfectly.
And i love the reunion scenes... Greene is trying to be diplomatic and Gradishar just takes every opportunity to rub it in. The kicker is geriatric and still distraught.
And that culture is why they will never be competitive nationally. There’s an air of entitlement that overtakes everyone that goes up there, thinking that putting on that uniform makes them instantly “elite”, despite the fact they they have won 1/2 a Natty since the forward pass became a thing. Rather than letting their play do the talking, the minute they commit to tsun, they run their yaps on twitter, in interviews and blither on about “revenge tours.”

None of that will change until they purge the program of the old guard that fosters that culture and bring in an outsider to rebuild it from the ground up. And good luck with that. The one time they brought in an outsider, “michigan men” inside the program undermined him at every turn.

Agreed.
It was also from before my time. I had always heard that Michigan was a shoe-in to win that vote, but it took a long time for someone to explain why it was so surprising that Ohio State won the vote. I think, as you said, Michigan had the votes, if their alumni was loyal. But, according to that documentary, they didn't know it would come down to a vote until the next day. One explanation I've heard is "We dominated that game." Yeah - to a 10-10 tie. Time of possession, total yards, nor any other stat matters the way score does. Otherwise, maybe we should claim victory in 1996?
About the ONLY reason I can remember hearing about why Michigan thought they should be going to the Rose Bowl was because, until maybe the year before, there was a rule that a team couldn't go to the Rose Bowl 2 years in a row. That rule was no longer in effect, so it wasn't going to keep Ohio State out. But, from what I understand, people thought Michigan might flip a couple of votes that might have gone Ohio State's way in honor of that recently abandoned rule.
I enjoy watching John Bacon (or whatever his name is) whine about wanting to see who voted for whom.

The repeat rule ended in 71... but since Ohio State went the year before, Michigan only needed a 5-5 vote.

Of the 8 ADs not employed by UM or OSU... the following were UM alum:
- Bump Elliott (Iowa)
- Bill Orwig (Indiana)
- Elroy Hirsch (Wisconsin)
- Bert Smith (Michigan State)

OSU alum:
- Tippy Dye (Northwestern)

The rest:
- Paul Giel (Minnesota) – said he voted for Michigan out of respect for the old no repeat rule.
- Cecil Coleman (Illinois) - was initially reported as voting for UM, but later came out he didn't.
- George King (Purdue) - outsider from WV; no B10 allegiances. Voted for good guys.

Even with UI flipping, it should have been a slam dunk for Canham.

So apparently MSU and Wiscy flipped.
MSU over 'little brother' treatment... sound familiar?

And it's worth noting Hirsch (Wiscy) was originally a Badger but basically forced to xfer to Michigan in '43 for the Navy's wartime V12 program. The same military program that effectively handed them the competitive advantage for their last full NC.
Hirsch apparently didnt attach himself to AA in that time, returning to Wisconsin after USMC and successful pro career.
