RB Bri'onte Dunn (dismissed from team)

I can only speak for myself, but remembering my high school days, I was pretty lax in my fandom. Now, I look at fellow Toledoans who root for UM and think "how could you..." But back then, I really didn't care. I rooted for Ohio State because I was from Ohio, and that was about it. I'm guessing that's the way it is for a lot of them.

And also, I think his concern is a pretty legit one. If he doesn't want to play in a spread system, that's a legit concern. It's like a DT saying he doesn't want to play NT, so he won't go to a team that runs a 3-4 system. I know the whole Urban-doesn't-run-that-kind-of-spread,-so-he'd-still-be-used-plenty argument, but you can't fault the kid for wanting to be 100% sure he's going to be happy with his college decision.

Im not going to get into a war of words with a fellow buckeye fan. But I'm just saying recruits don't usually look at schools based on fan affiliation. I hope Dunn comes to the buckeyes as bad as anyone, but I'm not going to bad mouth him if he doesn't. We know we have a top notch team with or without him. If he goes to scum then fine, it'll be on him when he sits on a sideline 3-4 times in his collegiate career losing to his hometown school. At this time it seems like we're playing with house money and all players we get or retain is the whipped cream and cherry on the sundae. Because if we don't keep Dunn its not like we're an unranked kid from the middle of nowhere, that means a scholly for another top ranked player.

I tend to think that for most people, if actually in the situation of choosing a premiere D-1A team to play for, their emotional superfandom would take a back seat to practical concerns. And that's not to say that practical concerns necessarily favor UM in Dunn's case (I don't think they particularly do), but when it came down to brass tacks, superfandom would go out the window for most of us, I suspect.

I wish we wouldn't get so worked up about Dunn. He loves OSU and I'd love to have him, but if you're going to leave just leave. It's not going to hurt OSU, and him holding this offer out there is keeping OSU guessing about the number of offers it has available. I'm ready for Hyde to have the reigns and I'm still very high on Rod Smith. Warren Ball looks like a stud as well.

If Dunn believe Hoke's garbage (pro-style offense, assuming he'll be a better back right away than Toussaint) and goes to scUM, he'll get wrecked by our All-American filled defensive front, and linebackers that fly around and smash people, so I won't be that worried about it. If he de-commits, it really just opens up more room for OL and ATH, and I'm cool with that.

Best of luck with whatever he decides, but I hope that he wouldn't have committed if he wasn't completely sure. As others have said here, get on the train or get run over.

Last time I checked Dunn has until Signing Day to sign his LOI. It's his decision and his life so why don't you let him take his time and make the best decision for him and his life. If you think about it, millions of dollars could be riding on this for him and his family. A LOT has changed in Columbus since he gave his commitment months ago, and going by your logic - you don't think we should have Schutt or Pittman here? They committed elsewhere before switching to the good guys.

Sorry but some of the stuff I'm reading on here is straight asinine (is this considered a swear word in recruiting forum standards?)

Not swearing at all - just a high class word for stupid.

Per The Bank, reaffirmed his commitment to Coach Meyer

Good news. And in the minds of many posters, he's proving he's a wise, talented, loyal Buckeye rather than a traitor. :tongue2:

But if he still takes another visit to TSUN, fans might have to wait until NLOID before relaxing.
