RB Chris "Beanie" Wells (All B1G, All-American)

Good dude

Not to mention that he is a BAMF!!! Using a giant eagle to catch turkeys to help feed people is manly as hell.

As we settled into our seats and watched the first couple of plays against Navy today, my dad noticed a hulk of a man making his way up the stairs right towards our section. I immediately yelled out "BEANIE!!!!!". He gave us a nod and some hi-fives as he walked behind our row to his seats 2 or 3 past us. I didn't pester him too much, but my brother noticed him getting up to leave at halftime and asked him if he could get a picture. He was more than happy to oblige....especially when my brother asked him to pose by giving him the stiff arm of death.

Beanie's a class act. One of my favorite Buckeyes ever before today....this just cemented it.

My son and I went to the Buckeye Bash before the OSU/Navy game. We got a chance to meet Beanie. He was super nice; took a few minutes to chat, sign an autograph and take a picture. There was a group of people waiting to say hi, and he took time to meet everyone. A real class act, and it made our day. Thanks, Beanie!!

Interesting story about Beanie on the bucknuts podcast today. He committed to tOSU as a junior but took a trip out to USC a senior...and committed to Pete Carroll while he was out there. Then he told his parents and they told him he must have lost his damn mind and that he was going to tOSU. So he did. :groove:

Man, that ass beating we took in LA in '08 would have been REALLY hard to watch with Beanie shredding our defense

It was still awful to watch with him on the sidelines. We needed him that day.

Ohio State football: How former Buckeyes RB Beanie Wells almost ended up playing for USC

When you think of Beanie Wells and USC, you probably think about what would've happened had Wells been healthy enough to play in Ohio State's 35-3 loss to the Trojans in the third game of the 2008 season.

Wells thinks about it too.

"I wanted to go, but physically I was nowhere near healthy enough to play," Wells said Saturday at Value City Arena, where he was being inducted into the Ohio High School Athletic Association's Circle of Champions.

Here's what you may not know about Wells and USC: He could've been playing for the Trojans in that 2008 game.

Wells, considered by some recruiting services as the nation's top running back coming out of Akron Garfield High School in the 2006 recruiting class, said Saturday that he briefly decommitted from Ohio State in 2005 and committed to USC.

"I don't think many people know, when I took a visit to USC, I went out there and had Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush and Dwayne Jarrett, three of their marquee players, hosting me on this visit," Wells said. "I decommitted from Ohio State and committed to USC while I was out there."

Pete Carroll nearly stole the man who ended being No. 4 on Ohio State's all-time rushing list.

So what changed Wells' mind?

"I called my Mom and called my Dad and told them I was going to USC the next day, and by the time I got off the plane and got home, I was decommitted from USC and back committed to Ohio State," Wells said. "My parents said there's no way you're going to Southern Cal for school, we can't get to you and Ohio State is the best situation."

Wells suffered a foot injury in the 2008 opener against Youngstown State that kept him out of the next three games, including the loss to USC.

Does he ever wonder if things would've been different had he gone to USC?

"Yes, I do. I'd probably be somewhere behind palm trees or something like that," Wells joked. "I enjoy being here. Ohio is home."

For those in the Cleveland area, he has been co-hosting the 92.3 The Fan morning show with Kiley this week. He's been pretty good, he seems to have good chemistry with Kiley...I hope they give him a shot at a permanent spot.
