RB Daniel "Boom" Herron (Official Thread)

Are you sure these kids are doing 225 and not 185?

Positive. Most upperclassmen at WGH test at 225. They test at the beginning of each month and I don't have all of the results as of right now. I will soon though.

FWIW, WGH has two players, Chris Anzevino (6'2, 300 lbs, c/o 07) & Russell Pupunu (6'1, 330 lbs, c/o 08), who each did 20 reps of 225 yesterday. Pupunu transfered before last season, but he came too late. Anzevino transfered after the season was over from Youngstown Boardman. I've never seen either of them play, so I didn't start a thread on them. I only post updates on WGH players that already have threads started, but it will be interesting to see how Anzevino & Pupunu develop over the next few months. Pupunu is only a sophomore, so I'm very excited about him.

I thought that Pupunu kid was 6'3.

He's almost 6'2, but nowhere near 6'3. Russell has come a long way. When he first came, he was well over 370+ pounds. Now, he's "slimmed down" to 330. He's a good kid and a very hard worker. I just hope that he establishes a nasty streak on the field. Only time will tell, but he has lots of potential. Hopefully, as the 06 season develops and more prospects for 08 begin to get noticed, we'll be discussing Pupunu's college options on Buckeye Planet.

Herron says that PSU, tOSU, and scUM are his top 3. PSU is his favorite at this point. He plans to decide around the middle or end of his Sr. season.
I'm still somewhat surprised by the schools who are after him. I'm no scout, but I've seen him play a few times and I'm not really convinced he could be a top-tier Big10 RB, especially considering who else we are after.

Many schools are showing interest. He has plans on visiting Penn State (this weekend), Michigan, and Ohio State, just to name a few, in the upcoming weeks. Cincinnati is also making a push for him. Several others have invited him to come up, but I know that he wants to make sure that he visits the schools that are close (like the ones mentioned above)

BTW, Herron should know more about UM after the their Spring Game if nbot sooner.
