RB Ezekiel Elliott (All B1G, All-American, National Champion, Pro Bowl, All Pro, New England Patriots)

again, not asking your opinion on the fairness of Rogers kangaroo court. You have made it abundantly clear you think Roger was unfair to Zeke.

I'm asking you if you think Roger picked Zeke out at random to perform the witch hunt on?
No, I am not saying he had no reason for his investigation. I am saying whoever Roger decides to investigate is going down.

It's not Penn State/BWI level crazy to see this as the NFL going way overboard with a punishment to make it seem like they give 2 shits about domestic violence. The police.....you know, the people who's job it is to investigate these kinds of things and then hand it off to the prosecutors to do THEIR job of trying to get punishment....decided there wasn't enough to this to even bring charges. But the NFL, with LESS information, found it worthy of a 6 game suspension.

From the information we have now (can't be stated enough), it's not clear if this woman was injurred by Zeke or if she was in a different fight with somebody else. What we do know is that she texted her friend and asked that she lie for her. We know that she shouted to him that she'd end his career. We know that she was pissed bc she apparently wasn't the one and only in Zeke's life. There's not enough there to take away 1/3rd of a season.

With the Tom Brady thing, he got punished without any actual evidence because Brady actively destroyed evidence.....and footballs can't testify. But at least Brady did something to the point where a reasonable person can say "yeah....he probably cheated." I can't say the same for Zeke. He could have hit her. It's not impossible. But it's also not impossible to believe this was just a scorned woman. If that story about getting in a different fight before hand didn't exist.........sure. The logical assumption is that Zeke would have been the one to hit her. Until that gets debunked, 6 games is serious overkill....and you don't need a tinfoil hat to think so.

not a lawyer but maybe the higher level of proof needed to prosecute a criminal case vs merely suspend him from a self governing body is the reason for this phenomena?

Sounds a lot like the howls of injustice from Happy Valley about the Freeh report and the NCAA, no?

Realize who you're talking to when you say that. This is not the same thing. There were emails at Penn State implicating Paterno and the higher ups. There isn't evidence here tying Elliot to anything, unless they have things they haven't released. There is evidence that the girl is lying.

IS
NOT
THE

None of us know what the evidence is do we? Yet some are adamant their foosball hero has been wronged even after he was suspended by the NFL who has no beneficial interest in seeing him suspended.

The underlying specifics of the two cases obviously aren't the same thing (serial child rape > questionable accusation of DV) but a lunatic fringe in every fanbase seems to be present that just cannot deal with the idea that some people who play footbal for their favorite team just aren't very good human beings.

Yes Goodell has a reason to punish players, even if they are falsely accused. It's called looking tough against domestic violence. Perception of being tough to cater to fans that dislike players being alleged offenders, and also to deter players from offending.

I don't have to choose whether Roger or Ezekiel are behaving poorly here.

One of them has been a regular embarrassment if not a lot worse.

The other is consistently lying as the arbitrary sentencer.
This is where I'm at on this.

It is possible to live in a world where Ezekiel Elliot repeatedly behaved badly to the point of being deserving of a punishment/wake up call... and for Goodell to have overreacted and handed down an unjust punishment in this instance... simultaneously.

I'm sorry Jax but literally the only evidence we have seen is that she blatantly told her friends to lie and said she'd ruin him and some pics that of bruises that we don't have a timeline or anything on. And once she told people to lie for her she undermined any credibility she had in a he said she said situation. Is Zeke a perfect person obviously not from what we know. Did he beat a woman? Without some more evidence I'm very hesitant to take her word for anything.

The NFL doesn't have an interest in looking like they are taking a strong stand against domestic violence after years of criticism for not taking it seriously enough?

It is entirely possible that they very deliberately targeted, and arguably went overboard punishing, one of their biggest stars, while still not doing much for lesser known players (as has been pointed out), for that exact reason.

To reiterate what I said above, I think EzE deserved to be punished and very seriously needs to reavaluate his priorities and actions... and I also think it is very possible the NFL is being unreasonable in their punishment to give the appearance of taking a strong stand against domestic violence.

Both scenarios can exist simultaneously.

Pretty much I figured 2-4 games for the accumulation of stupid shit he's done over the last year.

yes they can, I wasn't ever defending Goodells punishments

this all started with people suggesting this was a bolt of injustice from the the thin blue air to which I countered EE had to do something

the drain has been circled many times since then

But you've yet to put forth any sort of logical rationale for this conclusion aside from the entity that consistently bungles investigations and hands down inconsistent suspensions decided to suspend him based on unknown additional information that is in direct conflict to that gathered by 2 law enforcement agencies.

And of course you follow it up by undergoing a series of mental gymnastics to create a false equivalency between PSU folks and anyone who points out the above to you.

how much clearer can I be?

Elliott didn't get investigated for no reason, he did something to get the whole thing rolling

the fact the NFL's punishments are all over the place has nothing to do with it
