Those 11 carries a game got Weber a AC joint issue this year get what you mean though

Doubt it was the work load...That's like saying Tracy Sprinkle played too many snaps and caused knee issues. Injuries can happen at any time. If his few carries per game caused injury issues then he better kiss an NFL future goodbye.

By the end of the season, I fully expect JK to be the first option at running back. No disrespect intended to Mike Weber, but Dobbins is a special talent indeed.

I HIGHLY doubt that. I think we overlook just how strong a first year Weber had, despite playing banged up for a large chunk of it. Now, if he's hurt a lot again, I could see it. But, I look for Dobbins to play a secondary role this season. Don't forget McCall as well....and Williams. If Weber has a big year and goes pro, it could be the Dobbins Show in 2018.

Could be another situation like we had in 2014 where we saw how talented Zeke was but Carlos Hyde got the majority of the reps. Comparing the two, Zeke had the better career but a SR Hyde was a better option than a FR Elliott. I think a RS SO Weber will be a better option than a true FR Dobbins. I would expect Weber to leave after next year to keep it rolling. I like how it's going now. Start for two years and get replaced by another NFL top round pick.

But I can back it up. Remember, I was one of the first to predict the meteoric rise to stardom by Mickey Mitchell.

Weber's running style may lead to more injuries and playing running back is tough enough on the body. We are going to need another runner to step up.
Who will that be is the unknown.
And there will be a slightly different ball distributition on offense(more passing) that could effect things.
Urban is seeking better "balance' so we'll have to see what that really means.

I have been screaming/whining/begging/praying for the rotational use of multiple tailbacks since at least 1996. Could this finally happen? Wilson may actually release at least some of the hounds. All that garbage about getting a rhythm for the game, etc. is just that. I don't want that. I want four tailbacks who all run hard, who go balls out for six or eight plays and then the next one comes in and does it and if he doesn't, then we bring in the next one. Fcuk all that yang about we need a bell-cow, blah, blah. Fcuk it. I don't really care about the order, but pound them hard and then bring in another. Weber, McCall, Williams, Dobbins, repeat, repeat, repeat, until the defense has the dry heaves and cramps and we're up fifty. Fcuk michigan, the whole motherfcuking state.

I do believe a back has to get into a rhythm. It takes a few carries to really get into a good flow. But I also like to see a guy get spelled to rest his legs a little. you can do that pretty easily. One guy gets most of the carriers, is still able to get into a good rhythm, but a second guy comes in and gets 5-9 carries a game to spell the MAN.

I think backs "need" rhythm because they're enabled to think that. It's conventional thinking. I also think that if you set up a structure where the have to come out firing, then they will do so. It's about culture. Either they will or they won't play. No one else does it, who cares? Maybe no one else has four 4-star backs that can/should be used. What would that do for recruiting? You're a 4/5-star RB, you only have so much mileage and you ought to get a pro shot. Don't go somewhere and redshirt (assuming, of course, that you have picked up the blocking assignments, etc.; the whole argument is premised on this), instead come here and ball out, ten to fifteen carries a game, show what you've got, and then move on relatively unscathed.
