RB Miyan “Chop” Williams (Official Thread)

When you think of all the hits an RB takes, especially in pass pro when called upon to stop a runaway moose, it's no wonder their playing life is so short. Maybe Day's penchant for passing first coupled with giving both backs PT will lead to a longer run in the pros for both.

I think you're absolutely right about this and that, at least for fans, this is under-recognized/under-appreciated. Contact, especially in collision-contact sports, is all about energy transference and equalization. It's very hard to equalize the energy transfer as a back, who is invariably smaller and has less space to get up to speed. Doesn't mean it hasn't been done, but I've never seen a pancake block from a running back in pass protection; to do so, you'd have to be almost DE size and moving/accelerating at a considerably higher speed, from the proper angle to allow you to transfer all of your energy without absorbing much. You may successfully block the bull rush, but in doing so you're absorbing energy and taking a beating over time.

As much as he gets called the "power back", isn't he as big as Treveyon?
I think both will complement each other in similar roles, as I think both are complete RBs, and Pryor is the change of pace Speed back.

Treveyon isn't small, but Miyan was quite a bit stockier last year and ran with more power.

Looking at various roster sites, there's only a 1in difference in height, and 10lbs difference in weight(though it's been rumored that Williams has lost some weight). But I feel you, Williams definitely embraces contact. But I wonder if that's more because Henderson wasn't used to the size of collegiate players and taking bigger hits after not playing for over a year.
