James Otis Graham, better known as Scottie, (born March 28, 1969 in Long Beach, New York) is a former professional football player who played running back for six seasons in the NFL; New York Jets (1992), Minnesota Vikings (1993–1996) and the Cincinnati Bengals (1997).

Career
Graham was a high school All-American in three sports: football, wrestling and lacrosse. He continued his football career with a full scholarship to The Ohio State University, lettering four years and starting three years as running back. Senior year, Scottie was elected team captain by his peers.

Graham continued his graduate studies during the off-season and received his Master's Degree in Black Studies at Ohio State during his fourth year with the Minnesota Vikings. In 1993, Graham certainly climbed through the ranks to make a name for himself, finishing the season as Minnesota's leading rusher, and by the end of December, his 448 yards placed him 16th in the NFC with zero fumbles. In one two game stretch, Scottie rushed for 166 yards against the Kansas City Chiefs and the following week, rushed for 139 yards against the Green Bay Packers. These 305 total rushing yards during two games were the most ever by a Viking running back in a two game stretch.

Currently entering his 13th year with the NFL Players Association in Washington, D.C., Graham began his career as a Regional Director with the trade association; however, he moved to the commercial subsidiary NFL PLAYERS to directly engage players with business partners, as the Director of Player Marketing and Engagement.

Personal life
Graham and his wife Mary live in Ashburn, VA with their two children, Mylek and Marika.

Scottie’s Pep Talk: Week 1

Posted by Scottie Graham on 8/31/2013
Surround yourself with people who believe in your highest potential. Why? Because at your lowest moments, they STILL believe in you and can help you find your heart that is still in it, despite all the challenges. As a football player at THE Ohio State University, I learned my most valuable lessons which I have carried through my adult life: Trust, Persistence, Dedication, and Brotherhood.

Proverb 18:24 states “A man who has friends must himself be friendly,But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” This is how I feel about my Ohio State family. As a freshman football player that arrived at OSU in 1987 from Long Island, New York, I didn’t expect to make friends with guys that I still love today! As each new football season approaches, I often find myself reflecting upon the brotherhood I had during those formidable years. We laughed, cried, fought for the wins and struggled through the losses all together. The Ohio State University is the best place in the world in my humble opinion. I met and have been married for 22 years to the love of my life at OSU and she also is a Buckeye. All I can say is that this Buckeye alum is very excited about another upcoming football season, and I know I am not the only one who feels this way: football just makes everything feel better!

I was at the Rhino Bar in Georgetown for the game last weekend, and Scottie Graham happened to be there with (who I think) is his son. He gave a nice little pep talk and seems to be doing well for himself! Always nice to see how former Buckeyes are holding up.
