RB Trey Sermon (2020 B1G CCG MVP, Indianapolis Colts)

It is kinda a shame that he wasn't getting all the snaps from day 1. Not to mention, Mo Williams is better than Teague too. I don't get some of the PT that Teague and Borland get over some more talented guys like Sermon and Hilliard. No comparison.
Teague just looked better early on. Trey has too many attributes that Teague just doesn't possess: vision, balance, tackle breaking, deceptive breakaway speed and hands.
But next season, I could see a big fall down the depth chart for Teague

So, before the season started, 247 or someone had a list of the 5 best players at each position in the B1G. Sermon was #1 at RB. I wish I could find the TTUN fan I had an exchange with who was big mad online that Chardonnay wasn't on the list.

Chardonnay totals in 6 games this year: 19 carries for 124 yards and 1 TD

Sermons last 3 games: 10 for 112 and a TD, 29 for 331 and 2 TDs, 31 for 193 and 1 TD.

Funny you should post this, because it segues perfectly into what I am going to post....

It probably wasn't 247 who had Sermon rated so highly. In fact, 247 re-rates (at least some) players who transfer. While Sermon was a 4-star prospect (.9232 rating) coming out of high school, he was dropped to a 3-star prospect (.8900) as a transferee, despite his success at Oklahoma (maybe his injury history had something to do with his lowered rating). Looks like Ohio State has once again done wonders developing a 3-star talent.

I went back to find it, it was PFF: https://www.pff.com/news/college-football-rankings-top-five-big-ten-players-every-position-2020

Here's the comments, less mad than I remember but dumber too:

Kind of surprised to not see Zach Charbonnet, Jalen Mayfield, or Cam McGrone on this but oh well.

I'm not convinced Charbonnet is even the best back at Michigan.

He was banged up all of last year and was the best back. He's primed for a blow up year imo.

Yeah, he was injured basically the whole season. Had a procedure in the spring/fall to fix an injury from high school, so he missed a big portions of camp. Then he re-aggravated that injury against Army and was never fully healthy again, evidenced by his lack of explosiveness in the second level.

Preseason talks seem to indicate that he's fully healthy for the first time and has that explosivity back.

Haskins also proved to be a pretty good back, so the floor for this RB room is pretty high and the ceiling is determined by Charbonnet's potential.

I get why he's not on this list though, as it's based on (I think) results from last year. He has to prove it first.

Don't forget we have Evans back too, I love our RB room

We actually get Chris Evans back too, so there’s even a chance that he’ll come on really strong, particularly in Gattis’ offense.

Just sayin': (Even tough the 2nd one (in above photo) ended up with a facemask penalty,) the man has got a brutal "still arm" move too.
