Three Buckeyes among top 25 players that returned to school
Every year, dozens of underclassmen make the decision to forgo their final year of eligibility and enter the NFL Draft. For the most part, those players ultimately end up being selected.
However, on some occasions, players that left school early do not ultimately hear their name called over the course of the three-day, seven-round draft. Those underclassmen probably would have been better off sticking around campus for another year of seasoning.
With that in mind, Michael Renner of Pro Football Focus recently published a list of the top 25 college football players that decided to return to school for the 2020 season.
Three Ohio State Buckeyes standouts appear on the list: guard Wyatt Davis, cornerback Shaun Wade and running back Trey Sermon.

Sermon, ranked No. 17 by PFF, is a graduate transfer from Oklahoma. While with the Sooners, Sermon amassed 2,076 rushing yards with 22 touchdowns and caught 36 passes for 391 yards and three touchdowns.
“Outside of Travis Etienne, it’s likely Sermon who has the best balance of the running backs in this class,” Renner wrote. “On 336 career carries at Oklahoma before transferring to Ohio State this offseason, Sermon broke 113 tackles. At 6-foot, 221 pounds, he can not only run through you, but also make you miss. He’s never had more than 162 carries and 16 receptions in a single season for his career, so proving he can handle a heavy workload in both areas will be a plus for his stock.”
Sermon will be a nice addition for the Buckeyes, who lost 2,000-yard rusher J.K. Dobbins to the draft and Master Teague, who was injured in the offseason.

I somehow keep forgetting Sermon is coming here next year. So pumped to have him in our backfield, Sermon was a guy that I was definitely disappointed that we missed on when he committed to OU. He could be geared up for a huge year if healthy.

I can foresee a great combo of he and Crowley with some Teague mixed in.

Just how important is Trey Sermon to Ohio State’s plans this season?
Answer: I'll say REAL IMPORTANT; however, the degree of actual importance will some what depend on the health of Master Teague and Marcus Crowley. Regardless as numerous football coaches have said "You can never have too many running backs".
There are a couple pretty good offensive linemen; however, when all is said and done Trey Sermon might just be the 2nd most important guy (i.e. behind Fields) on the offensive side of the ball.
