RB/WR/DB Demario McCall (Official Thread)

I am excited for him as well. He is making the most of his opportunity with K.J. out. Urban did say it was his 3rd year in the program and time for him to produce. I still feel ST's is where he will make his mark this fall. They have so many mouths to feed and talent at the skill positions that I don't see any one person having breakout numbers besides the potential for both RB's to go for 1000+ each.

I hope with Demario's emergence, it means that KJ can to working on the outside. Campbell and McCall should be enough at HB as well as on the return game.

would be great having Campbell and McCall on the field at the same time

Agree and I'm sure they will. Campbell is a threat to score at any time, but he's never struck me as an H. Neither has Hill. At least not in the way Meyer used it with Marshall, Wilson, Miller and Samuel.

McCall has always seemed like the ideal H. Great moves and speed. Can easier move between RB or WR. Much easier to move him around and put teams on their heels.

I think McCall takes over as the number 1 h back by mid year. Campbell is a home run threat but the reliability to make a catch is going to hurt him now that DM is healthy.
Either way your going to see 7 starter caliber guys rotating pretty evenly with 2-4 receivers on the field at a time. With another 2 guys getting garbage time.
But next year the cupboard will be bare and DM will need to take a primary role.

DEMARIO MCCALL IS DYNAMIC AND ELECTRIC, BUT THERE'S NO OBVIOUS WAY TO GET HIM ON THE FIELD

Demario McCall is one of the clearest examples of Ohio State's logjam of talent.

McCall was one of the most highly-rated recruits in the country – the No. 2 player at his position and No. 44 overall player in the nation – and dazzles every time he has a chance to see the field, averaging 6 yards per carry and 22.5 yards per reception with 6 touchdowns on just 69 touches.

But ever since his arrival in Columbus, there's been no clear way to get him on the field. McCall came in as a running back, and was behind both Mike Weber and Curtis Samuel on the depth chart his freshman year, then was passed by J.K. Dobbins the following year.

His skillset translated more towards an h-back or a wide receiver than a traditional tailback, so he made the position switch, but the path to playing time has never been any clearer there. McCall was behind Samuel, Parris Campbell, K.J. Hill and Dontre Wilson at the h-back position.

Combine that with the injury struggles McCall had during the 2017 season, and you've got an electric player buried on the depth chart.
