Real Racing, Formula One, F1 (official thread)

So basically, all F1 needs, to have entertaining races, is for the greatest driver of his generation (and maybe ever) to make a mistake the likes of which he never does and get shuffled to the back halfway through the race.

After last week at Spa I almost decided to spend my Sunday morning doing other stuff. Glad I tuned in for this one today.

Now if Lando can just get past that fraud in the Pink Merc...

Bottas is a mystery to me. I really like him, and at times seems like a world class driver. But, the difference between what he can get out of the car and what Lewis gets out of the car is insane. Does anyone think Valtteri would come back up through the grid like Lewis is doing if the roles were reversed?

Yeah, I laughed when they said they said that 6 was possible for Hamilton, but he made it all the way to 7th. There's a reason that Lewis is the highest paid athlete in the world. It's like watching Babe Ruth in the 20s or Michael Jordan in the 90s.

Would liked to have seen Lando make a run at billionaire boy. I'm not sure if it's team orders, but Lando seems to be driving a lot more conservatively now than he did earlier in the season as though he was more worried about Bottas behind him than billionaire boy ahead of him.

Lewis is a real class act too. Taking time to go around and congratulate the young guys on their first podiums after what--by his standards--was a disastrous day.
Agreed. Though I find him whiny at times on track, he’s a class act and it’s not often you get to watch Greatness as it happens. He’s the best racing driver I’ve seen in my life, and it’s not even close, imho. Just wish he had some real competition, because he’s so good he makes the sport boring.

Nice to see him and all the other drivers congratulating the young guys. Had to be hard for Lewis, on a day he would have easily won and set records. Says a lot about him as a person.
