I'm a bit surprised to see that there hasn't been a thread created for this game. This is the sequel to Red Dead Revolver, but its set in 1911 and looks a million times better. It's a sandbox free-roaming old western game that comes from Rockstar, the makers of Grand Theft Auto, so basically from what I've seen of it, it's GTA meets the wild west.

The game is completely wide open to what you can do and has environments such as deserts, towns, mountains, etc. and features over 40 types of animals that you can hunt. Along the way you can choose to enter gunfights with the dead-eye aiming system, chase down wanted men, become an outlaw and rob/kill people, as well as participate in numerous mini-games such as gambling, arm wrestling, and horseshoes. However, whichever way you choose to run your character, as an outlaw or a hero, will greatly affect your honor and fame levels. Also, there will be multiplayer for it too, so I bet that will be pretty sweet as well.

Anyways, I'm definitely going to be getting this game when it comes out next month, and I'm pretty sure I'll be headed to gamestop tomorrow to pre-order it. Check it out for yourself:

game looks sweet, but I try to limit myself to one video game addiction at a time, BC2 will probably get me through to NCAA11, which will last me through the summer, but who knows, maybe I will go crazy and buy this one in between

I thought the release date got pushed back, is that the current or old one you have listed?
Yup, May 18th is when this game will come out, it was originally going to come out late 2009, but got pushed back.

Also, I'll be getting this game on PS3 too.

Hell yeah, I preordered on Amazon. Typically I don't preorder, but with the $20 off I get from preordering BC2, coupled with the $10 Amazon crad you get for preordering RDR, plus the $5 off they are selling the game for...comes up to about $25 bucks. Frick yeah.

We should get a posse going for this, BP style.

In a First for Rockstar, Red Dead Redemption Gets Difficulty Settings - Red dead redemption - Kotaku

Rockstar says Red Dead Redemption will feature three different difficulty modes, and while they're limited mostly to just the game's aiming feature the studio is calling the variable difficulty a first for any open-world game it's ever built.

There will be an expert free-aim mode with no auto-lock, a standard aiming mode that snaps the crosshairs to the target, and then the dreaded "casual" (no, not that word!), which gives a full auto-aim plus faster regenerating health.

"First time we have done this in an open world game, so we will be interested to see what people think having played with each option," a dev wrote in the company's weekly Q&A.

The Q&A also clarifies this game's relationship to its ancestor, 2004's Red Dead Revolver. "It's definitely not a narrative sequel ? more of a spiritual successor," Rockstar writes, saying the studio decided on delivering the American West in an open world game "while finishing Red Dead Revolver." So this idea has been gestating for a very long time indeed.
