Saarloos insurance policy
New starter increases chance Bailey will begin at Triple-A
BY JOHN FAY | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER
The day the Reds traded for Kirk Saarloos, I was headed for the Belterra casino. (If you go down there, see if you can find my shirt, because I definitely lost it).
But I digress. My first thought when I heard of the trade was: Homer Bailey starts the season in Louisville.
General manager Wayne Krivsky wouldn't go quite that far when asked if Bailey might start the season with the Reds.

Edwin winter ball

I am the agent for Edwin Encarnacion. There hasn't been any news on here about his winter. I beleive that Edwin is going to have his break through season. He was possibly the best player in Dominican and one of the best in the Carribean this season. He is very excited to get going. Besides baseball my passion is the Buckeyes.:osu:

I saw on ESPN he was 5-5 in one of the WS games down there. I thought last season was a decent break out season for EE. He improved his d (had some flashes of brilliance, but some goofs too) and lead the team in RBI for a while and showed some pop. I have expected big things from him all along. We will certainly need it to make up for the loss of O when Clayton left (haha, just kidding, obviously when Lopez, Kearns and Aurilla left). I would also think his D will be helped from the signing of Gonzalez.

Anyone else you rep due for a breakout year? I could use the fantasy tips!

We link to redzone from here and there is a great deal of discussion on EE's winter there.

I don't know if anyone reads this but here's some tough comments from Marty about Adam Dunn. I can't say I agree with them. Link

Pretty good site though...

Good find CB. People tend to take note when Marty says something. Maybe this is his attempt to motivate AD. I agree we missed the bus on trading him. I recall an offer from the A's for a big prospect package at the 05 deadline. At any time he could stand up and prove to be the monster masher we've all hoped for, but what he's doing right now isn't enough. Hopefully the new hitting instructor will help.

Every year we hear about how the new hitting instructor is going to help Dunn. Marty was pretty spot on with his comments. Dunn strikes out a record rates every year. He was just gawd awful down the stretch last year. He has to have protection in the line up to be productive when he should be the protection. He seems to do best when Griffey is behind him and hitting well. I think the trading of Kearns last year had a very negative impact on him psychologically and he needs to snap out of it. Marty's comments are out of the frustration of watching this kid for the last 5 years and not seeing any discernable improvement. Narron seems to be too much of a stiff to give him the kick in the pants he needs. Lou Pinella wouldn't let him loaf to his position like that.
