Reds Tidbits (2011 Season)

It would be easy to say that if Bruce wouldn't have screwed up he would have scored by now. I think Renteria's grounder might've been a DP if there had been a runner on first though, since the 2b would've played a little closer to the bag.

Im not sure about that. He had to dive to get that ball and it hit the bag on its way out. Maybe they get one but not the double. Either way we had 0 chance of getting the runner over when he was tagged out.

Again its Volquez' bullshit first inning that kills them. You cant expect your offense to score 10 runs every day to save your ass. Time to do your damn job Volquez or there needs to be some changes immediately.

Edison Volquez, Reds ace, after today's fiasco:

4 starts
22.2 IP
20H
16 BB
24 K
17R (all earned)
6 HR
6.89 ERA
If one of those starts isn't against the padres these numbers are even worse.

He needs to be in Louisville until he shows he can go longer than 6 IP and give up less than 5-6 runs in the process.

I'm tired of hearing about surgery, his K rates or inning splits. he has over 400 IP in his career that shows him to be nothing but a 4.5ish ERA middle to back of the rotation journeyman. He may strike out a lot of guys to get his outs but they still always find a way to score enough runs on him to give the other team a chance to win.

This staff has 5 #3 guys even when Cueto and Bailey come back, no true TOR ace.

Philly, SF, ATL, St Louis or even possibly Milwaukee will eat the Reds up in a short series if they can get their rotations set.
