    August 6, 2004

The creator of the hit "Super Freak" <CELEB year="" name="RICK JAMES">RICK JAMES</CELEB> has died, a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to ET. No details regarding his death were immediately available and the investigation is ongoing. The 56-year-old funk star was best known for his 1981 hit "Super Freak." He later fell victim to a crack cocaine addiction that led to a conviction for assaulting and holding a woman against her will. In 1998, James suffered a stroke. Just two months ago, James took the stage to receive a special ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Awards in Beverly Hills.

    Biatch,
I just read that Comedy signed him to a $50 million deal. I think it was for 2 or 3 years. I believe the movie is part of the deal. Thats a heck of a deal. Good for him.

Speaking of Chappelle. Does he still live in Ohio? I remember an interview with him a few years back on Stern and he said he lived on a farm in Ohio.

He lived in Yellow Springs. I saw him a couple times at Young's Jersey Dairy - one of the best places on earth. He moved to NYC when he got the deal for Chappelle's Show.
