Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

maybe its just me but im surprised myles autry has not been listed in the top 100 or top 250 on 24/7...things may change i guess

My best personal explanation is that "pivot players" are not generally valued because it takes a UFM type offense to unleash them. Not all teams went after Dontre, but there is a reason he came to tOSU.

Most of the services start off like that. Rivals usually ends up giving about 30 5 stars.

Exactly, then Rivals can dangle more 5 star carrots out there to get these kids to their camps.

My thoughts on the list: I know this is a more down year in Ohio, but having to reach #41 before finding an Ohio kid in Lattimore is a freaking joke. Drake Harris is too low. On the flip side, love how Peppers and Blanding are up near the top...both DBs but absolutely worthy of that lofty ranking. I'll wait for the 250 to really give a full analysis.

Idk about that one. Didnt dontre have over 20 offers, including from lsu, arkansas, texas, texas a&m, baylor, wvu, notre dame, clemson and Oklahoma. Thats a decent list, and he was ranked in the top 100 and top 10 in tejas. I think after going to a few camps, autry will be ranked higher. Apbs are valued in spread offenses now, because they're usually pivot candidates. Autry will shine in 1 on 1 drills and 7 on 7s and im sure move up. Kid can move. I think taquon mizzell made a pretty big leap after the summer of his junior year as well heading into his senior year

I don't care what position Autry plays or if he is really 5'3 in person...no way you can watch his film and not rate him among the top 100 players in the country (in addition to his offer list).

I basically agree, except that Dontre didn't have an offer from Alabama and was only ranked number 100 on Rivals. I sense from this board that the prevailing sentiment was that he was top 20. I believe his value to tOSU is top 20.

So having once been dismayed over Dontre's ranking, but then recovered and at peace with it, I am not surprised in the least about Myles.

But hey, I only follow this stuff very loosely.

I see what youre saying and agree, dontres importance is in the top 20 range, but to be honest, being ranked top 100 in the country is still a huge deal! If myles is even in the top 150-200 that means a lot. We all know the kid can play, but the rankings are mostly about kids getting to certain camps and showcasing their talents. And these camps tend to favor guys that have autry's skillset. But even more important, a kids offer list can let you know how good he really is. Even though dontre wasnt offered by Alabama, but they have a rb with similar traits to him in dee hart, but his offer list was still impressive, as will autry's in due time. But as long as he ends up a buckeye

About to go through & edit this to see if I missed anyone.

First, thanks for the breakdown. Seeing as how I've done this before, I know it's easy to miss some (some are longshots but have received discussion):

104. Speedy Noil ATH LA
136. Kyle Allen QB AZ
143. Natrell Curtis OG AZ
145. Morall Stephens WR FL
152. Tony James RB FL
157. Dravon Henry ATH PA
159. Shai McKenzie RB PA
160. Austin Roberts WR IN
170. Anthony Moten DT FL
182. Jesse Aniebonam DE MD
183. Roderick Johnson OT MO
199. Chris Hardeman DB TX
202. Dallis Todd WR CA
233. Cortez McDowell DB GA
236. D'Andre Payne DB D.C.
250. C.J. Reavis DB VA

- Notes: I suppose Autry at 128 isn't incredibly low, as I'm not sure they have seen him in person at their combines...still misguided based on his film though. Also, Wilbon that high? Going to have trouble justifying that with the players ahead of him. No Orlando Brown or Marcelys Jones? Gotta be freaking kidding me. I also am thinking Trout is a little low but if he goes to the combines he will move up.

As for our other two commits: I can understand no Campbell...obviously he is young and the staff saw something, but his film doesn't blow you out of the water. As for no Marshall...absolutely idiotic not to have him on this list. If his athleticism and upside doesn't make him a top 250 player nationally, you have no business making a top 250. There are some really good parts of the 250 but there are some mind-boggling omissions that I hope can only be explained by lack of oversight.

Alabama and Ohio State offered the 34th best player in Ohio. Must be a strong year. :shake:

Haha I feel you. 34th in one of the weakest years in Ohio in recent memory? I understand they don't want to follow offers strictly in their rankings but to ignore his offers and rank him that low is just flat out hubris on their behalf. If these rankings came out after Core6 that makes it even more of a joke.

I think I'd have Campbell in the top 5 at a minimum, and I'd personally have him in the top 3. I really think this kid is going to be special.
Agree he has potential to be special...but top 3? Yikes. That's going way out on the limb to me. I hope you are right though!
