2018 Rivals/Scout/etc. National & Regional Rankings

New Rivals 100, with the movers/sliders based on the last rankings:

3. DB Patrick Surtain (-1 spot)
4. WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (no change)
6. DE Micah Parsons (-1 spot)
9. DB Anthony Cook (same)
10. OL Jamaree Salyer (+1 spot)
11. DB Isaac Taylor-Stuart (earned his 5th star)
13. OL Jackson Carman (same)
15. LB Terjada Mitchell (+30 spots and earns his 5th star)
18. QB Emory Jones (-1 spot, still 5 stars)
21. DT Taron Vincent (-3 spots, still 5 stars)

27. ATH Jaelen Gill (+22 spots, one spot away from a 5th star and the highest 4 star)
29. ATH L'Christian Blue Smith (+2 spots)
31. DE Brenton Cox (+1 spot)
34. RB Brian Snead (-6 spots)
35. DB Jaiden Woodbey (+16 spots)

47. DB Houston Griffith (-3 spots)
49. OL Rasheed Walker (+44 spots)
53. DE Tyreke Smith (+54 spots, continues to climb higher and higher)
54. DT. Michael Thompson (-17 spots)
70. OL William Barnes (-10 spots)
83. TE Jeremy Ruckert (+126 spots, still think it is low but a big jump through Rivals)
84. LB Solomon Tuliaupupu (-26 spots)
94. LB K'Vaughan Pope (+16 spots)

- Obviously the rankings will change but currently we already have three 5 stars and typically at least the #32 spot and up are 5 stars. If things go like I think they will go, that would give us nine 5 stars (Parsons, Cook, Carman, Mitchell, Jones, Vincent, Gill, Smith and Cox). Sometimes they go as far as the top 35, which would be eleven 5 stars  Even if things don't shake out like that, I think we legitimately get 6-7. And then a slew of highly rated top 100 guys. Just an absurd class so far.

Nice write up RB. Mark in Pope to the good guys and that's another Top-100 player. This class is crazy, and only going to get better.

I think I speak for everyone when I say I freaking love this monumental class. Incredible, record-breaking class. Unreal. :groove:

And directly following our last monumental class of '17. Combine all that talent and it will be downright scary.

Annnnd on to the new Rivals 250, with notable players listed below (I can't find the previous 250, so I only listed the moves identified in the article...there goes my bonus):

106. DB Kalon Gervin
111. WR JoJo Scates
120. OL Matthew Jones
134. DB Josh Proctor

139. DB Jahan Dotson
157. DT Tommy Tagiai (from NR to 157, huge jump...also lists the Buckeyes as a leader now to land him...think he should be higher, even with the big jump)
164. WR Camryn Babb (-75 spots, cited injury concerns since he lost part of his junior year to a leg injury as well...don't think this type of drop was warranted due to an injury though, particularly when they acknowledge how fantastic he was this summer)
175. OL Nick Petit-Frere
179. DE Jayson Oweh (+38 spots, I would have him higher but can see some hesitation given how raw he is)
245. OL Max Wry (huh?...this is way too low, no idea here)

- You will notice way fewer commits/targets in the 250...because almost all of them were in the top 100. Only prospects not in either are Teague (who is top 100 in all others but a 3 star on Rivals), Banks (a composite 4 star), and Hooker (consensus 3 star but a legacy and the coaches liked what they saw). Pretty unreal.

You can have my BP salary. Thanks for your efforts!

And no Dallas Gant either...who like Teague and Wray didn't spend his summer at the camps that matter when it comes to rankings.

Good catch, think I just missed him since he is listed as a 4star but not in the 250. Well no worries there, we know what we have in Gant and he is also due for a big senior year imo.

Was hoping to see Master Teague in these rankings. Rivals is holding up his 247 composite score. Apparently, Rivals doesn't see in him what everyone else is...

There have been concerns on competition and he didn't the combine circuits. He did tear up the Bama/OSU camps, but they were not present to see it (although the numbers were absurd). I guess I can see some hesitation to put him in the top 100 and maybe the top 250 on those bases, but I think he should at least be a 4 star. I don't recall if he got any AA game invites, but it could be that they will want to see him there before bumping him up substantially.

I live in the Nashville area and I can tell you that Blackman plays very solid competition. Rutherford County has become a hotbed for talent over the last 5 years. I don't know what happened but all of the sudden the talent level just exploded there.

And as the final installment of your updated Rivals ratings, here are the new position ratings (I am just doing our commits and likely commits in my eyes):

Emory Jones: #2 Dual-threat QB
Brian Snead: #4 RB
Master Teague: #32 RB (behind 18 other RB's who are 3 stars...guess that answers our question on how far from 4 stars they see him...REAL far)
Jaelen Gill: #1 APB

Blue Smith: #7 WR
Kamryn Babb: #34 WR
Jeremy Ruckert: #2 TE
Jackson Carman: #1 OT
Max Wray: #18 OT
Matthew Jones: #5 OG

Micah Parsons: #1 WDE
Brenton Cox: #2 SDE
Tyreke Smith: #5 SDE
Jayson Oweh: #9 SDE

Taron Vincent: #1 DT
Tommy Togiai: #12 DT
Terajda Mitchell: #1 ILB
Solomon Tuliaupupu: #5 ILB
K'Vaughan Pope: #4 OLB
Dallas Gant: #21 OLB

Patrick Surtain: #1 CB
Anthony Cook: #2 CB
Tyson Campbell: #10 CB

Sevyn Banks: #38 CB
Jaiden Woodbey: #2 S

Houston Griffith: #6 S
Josh Proctor: #12 S
Marcus Hooker: #38 ATH

- Looking over the position groups can also be enlightening on this class. The potential DL class is just absurd, if things go right we are going to wipe out the top of the boards at DE and DT. Really every position, but that one really stood out.

New Rivals team rankings. We check in at #3 behind Miami (#1) and PSU (#2). This may appear surprising on the surface, but Miami has 19 commits and PSU has 23 commits. We have 16 and the highest star average at 4.0 stars even, with Miami trailing closely at 3.95. Getting Blue Smith alone would put us past PSU and might push us past Miami (I think a little short but very close). I would be very surprised if we didn't end up not taking the top spot, even if we miss one or two guys we lead for. It is early but the biggest shocker is scrolling down all the way to #31 to find Bama.

In terms of B1G recruiting, we are fairly well represented but a few teams need to pick it up: PSU at #2, OSU at #3, Maryland at #14, scUM at#24, Minnesota at #27, Wisconsin at #30, MSU at #37, Purdue at #40, Northwestern at #45, Rutgers at #47, Nebraska at #50 (mostly due to the number of commits, they will end up near the top 10 imo), Indiana at #58, Iowa at #67, and Illinois at #68

Seems the services really don't like it when you don't play their games. Yes, they make moves for clicks and to keep uncommitted guys higher, but they are also telling the athletes that they need to get to their camps as well. Throw the ratings out the window.
