SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Sacramento Kings forward Ron Artest was arrested Monday and excused indefinitely from the team after a woman said he shoved her to the floor inside his home and prevented her from calling 911.
Placer County sheriff's authorities said the woman reported she and Artest were arguing inside the home Monday morning when he pushed her. The argument moved outside when Artest tried to leave in his Hummer, sheriff's Sgt. Andrew Scott said during a news conference.

Well Gee whiz! Is there anyone in the world who didn't see this coming?
When will the NBA clean up this behavior? They probably will tiptoe around the issue until it threatens to, or does cost them money.
Maybe they will take action when someone is hurt seriously by a NBA player.

This is what happens when a guy stays at home instead of going to a strip club. :tongue2:

AARON C. DAVIS

Associated Press

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Five days after his arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, Ron Artest said he'd stumbled as a father and husband - and the Sacramento Kings announced they would let the volatile player return to the team.
"First, I want to apologize to my wife, to my family," Artest said Saturday.
He then lowered his head and fought back tears for nearly a minute before continuing. "I want to apologize to the Kings, to my teammates, to the NBA, everybody."

Please spare us the histrionics. You're a wife-beater who is not a fit example to the kids who idolize pro basketball players. You're an animal. You're a loser. You are unable to control your anger. You had everything in your hands.

Some people might say Artest blew it, others that he sucks. Both are right! Talent or no talent, pro basketball needs to say goodbye to this animal.

Neither the Kings nor the NBA are going to make an example out of one of its most talented players. (By kicking him out.) Not saying that is the right thing to do, but it is the reality of the situation.

Well, the question then becomes, how long before this guy causes another riot? how long before he's at a club, someone gets killed and he's seriously involved? The NBA has this concern with their image, making players dress in suits and what not when they are not suited up, yet they keep letting trash like this back into their league.

I am sorry, the NBA can say they are trying to clean up their image but it's just words at this point.

culture and sports discussion

ESPN - Report: Artest replies to Yao, seeks 'commitment' from Rockets - NBA

Yao expressed concerns about team chemistry to the Houston Chronicle and referenced Artest's involvement in the 2004 brawl with Pistons fans.

"Hopefully, he's not fighting anymore and going after a guy in the stands," Yao said, according to the Chronicle.

When asked about those comments, Artest said Yao had bought into "all the propaganda" about him, according to The Sacramento Bee.

"I understand what Yao said, but I'm still ghetto," Artest said, according to the report. "That's not going to change. I'm never going to change my culture. Yao has played with a lot of black players, but I don't think he's ever played with a black player that really represents his culture as much as I represent my culture. Once Yao Ming gets to know me, he'll understand what I'm about.

"If you go back to the brawl, that's a culture issue right there," Artest added, according to the report. "Somebody was disrespecting me, so he's got to understand where I'm coming from. People that know me know that Ron Artest never changed."
