Rugby (6N, Rugby Championship, IRB 7s, etc.)

Absolutely disgusted by South Africa's lack of commitment on defense. That's the first time I threw something at a television in my life. The two yelliw cards didn't help, esoecialky when Fiji was throwing punches in the tackles, but that was disgusting to watch.

Collegiate rugby sevens championship time, again. The Buckeyes aren't in it but there are some new teams - one of whom is Alabama. They were welcomed to the dance by Life University who drubbed them 36-0.

Roll damn Tide :slappy:

We were invited but had to decline. We had a previous commitment to play 15s in Arizona the same time as the B1G Sevens Championship and also lost three starters during the spring sevens circuit.

The Super Rugby 18 championship game is set with the Gauteng Lions vs the Canterbury Crusaders in South Africa.

Both semi-finals were good games (https://www.supersport.com/rugby/super-rugby/news).

The Lions were given up for dead at halftime in the semi-final but stunned the Hurricanes in one of the greatest comebacks in Super Rugby history. Typical warm winter day in Johannesburg. It should be dry and sunny for the final here.

I'm gutted to miss it by a matter of days... see you in couple of weeks!

Slow season for sports, but Rugby 7's World Cup is taking place this weekend. Easy to watch, open and exciting.

USA Eagles play at 9:30 tonight on NBCSN in the Round of 16.

edit- fml, apparently that was listed as 9:30 PST. Still been watching a few of these other matches.

Tough loss by USA to England in quarterfinals. Anything can happen and I wonder when South Africa run all over everyone and then get tough games in the semis and final. It would be special to see the Blitzbokke add the RWC 7s to their Hong Kong 7s championship. Fiji is, I think, the team to watch, though. They must still be smarting from the HK7s.

I'm going to have to ask @RugbyBuck to step in here for a moment. I'm looking at the pools and the current world standings. How is Wales a second seed in Australia's pool when they're a higher ranked team (3rd v 7th)? I guess it works in their favor, but it's still a bit of a head scratcher.

My guess, and I'd be interested in wadc45's take on it, is that Oz is a lot like scUM. Historically significant, but lately mediocre or worse. They still get the benefit of the draw.
