Rules for Republican and Democrats

who's to say that "choice" wasn't pre-determined at birth...

I like ladies, by choice... was I born with that choice or did I all of a sudden decide that was what I liked... and frankly what does it matter what I like, I should be able to legally become a union with my love...

"why do you keep bringing up poligamy? That is a different issue all together."

No, it isn't. Polygamy is a marriage issue. You keep saying, as if it is some kind of self evident, undeniable fact, that you should be able to have a legal union with your love. Well, if you a polygamist, and you love two people, you are not able to have an legal union with your love--just as gays cannot have a legal union with their love.

"So by this you are saying lesbians can get married, gay men can not... you don't make any sense..."

No, for a woman it would be a man. That should be obvious. I am a man, so if I choose not to marry woman, I'm not married. If I was a woman, it would be opposite. Talk about nitpicking.

"Wrong, it assumes they are humans that are citizens of the US and should be treated the same as hetero folks..."

Marriage is not a right of citizenship. If they can vote, their a citizen. And there's no law banning gays from voting.

"Sure, being gay isn't like being Black. One is a sexual identity, while the other is a racial classification. But both groups are born the way they are, and are not able to change it just by making a conscious decision"

I reject that premise. Skin color is obviously without a doubt something determined at birth. You simply cannot say that about sexual preference.

This is how I feel right now :smash:

If you want to argue poligamy go ahead, this topic is gay marriage, not marriage in general... while we're at it why can't a man legally marry a goat, or his dog?

Citizens are allowed to do many things that are not limited to only voting... human unions are a legal right.

You also can not say one can be born without sexual preference. Sooo, arguing that it is a choice to not get married gets thrown out the door.

Nixon,

your arguments don't hold water... everything you've said has been rebuttled. The fact is you don't want gays to marry, and you keep trying to spin the topic to other topics...

"This is how I feel right now "

That feeling is mutual.

"If you want to argue poligamy go ahead, this topic is gay marriage,"

Which I am opposed to

"Citizens are allowed to do many things that are not limited to only voting... human unions are a legal right."

An absolute right? So why can't I have a polygomous union? Or is it a privlege, that has parameters set by the government?

"You also can not say one can be born without sexual preference."

Why can't I? Can you prove this? Personally, I believe human beings are naturally attracted to the opposite sex. And I've seen no conclusive evidence that proves that this theory cannot be true.

"everything you've said has been rebuttled"

Everything I've said is my opinion. Everything you've said is your opinion. You believe you have a right to have a legal union with your love. I believe that's hogwash.

"The fact is you don't want gays to marry"

That is absolutely right.

"and you keep trying to spin the topic to other topics..."

What I want is an explanation for how you can deny polygamists marriage if you want to give it to gays.
