Running Back Commitments

I was at the Bowling Green game and Peterson did not look that impressive. Don't get me wrong Peterson is a good back but not an great back. If Jacob's would not of floated some early passes I think the out come would have been different.

RIP Drushaun Humphrey!!!!!
If he would not of passed away so early the Clarett Saga would never of happen. Bigger back than Clarett with 4.2-4.3 speed.

No offense but this is highly unlikely. Clarett had the advantage of spring practice & was a more natural RB. Dru would have needed time to grow into the roll.

Dru's presence very likely would have made a major difference in '03 & '04 but it is wishful thinking to think he would have beat out Reecie in '02 or that somehow his presence alone would make the problems go away.

Dru deserves better than to be used as a martyr.

I dont think it would be have "wishful thinking" that he would have beaten out MoC.
If anything, they would have split some major playing time.
if that happens, all this shit with MoC goes away, period.

I am not trying to use Dru as a martyr. I am originally from Youngstown and having the benefit to play against MoC and Dru, there is no comparsion. Dru was a pure physical speciment that could beat you with speed or power. Dru was offered a schollie right after they had him run the 40 for a second time to make sure he had that kind of speed. If Dru would have made it to OSU MoC battle of going to the NFL earl would have been put on hold, because he would have had bigger problems fighting for playing time behind Dru.

You are using the memory of someone who died under tragic circumstances to promote an agenda. Dru was not the second coming nor was he the answer to the Clarett "problem". He was a very talented kid who deserved a much better fate.

If anything Dru would have redshirted as a freshman. Reecie had a spring to learn the blocking schemes and all of the other assignenments that a RB is responsible for. Dru did not have that luxury. He was not a natural at the position and would have needed the time to learn those responsibilities.

Being a RB is more than just toting the rock and Dru wasn't yet up to speed on the rest of the job...You know the parts that Coach Tressell stresses above all else?

Regardless the problems with Clarett would not have magically disapeared. He still would have been suspended for his actions off the field and he still would have tried to get back at Ohio State by going to the media. Nothing would have changed that.

Sadly, I never had the privelage to see Dru play football.

However, I have had the opportunity to see alot of backs play CFB in my 42 years. Clarett was the most talented back in CFB since Herschel Walker, and given the brains to play out his elegibility, he may have been better.

Yeah right. Oklahoma rolled over bg. The score was 37-10 in the 4th quarter and frankly, if I'm a bg fan, I'm just glad the score was as close as it was considering the how good bg is and how good OU is. There are no circumstances in which bg could've won that game. I'm not sure it's the best thing to base the talent of Adrian Peterson on his very first collegiate game either. He still ran for 100 yards on only 16 carries, granted it was against a pathetic bg defense, but that's still pretty good.

We have 2 schollie running backs on the roster right now! This worries me and alot of people. But I like to worry about my Buckeyes! We'll just have to see who surfaces that we don't know about, under the radar guys.

Every year about this time in January I start to read the "sky is falling" threads about our recruiting. Somehow our classes fall below the expectations of most "recruiting gurus", who want all rivals 5 star players, yet we find a way to put a pretty decent team on the field every year. :wink2:

Quit whining.

peterson v ginn

peterson is great RB, obviously. give both him and ginn another year or two, but they both are special. I would say Peterson played behind 4 OL that will be drafted in the frist couple rounds of NFL draft, and the Big12 isn't nec. the strongest defensive conference to play against.

i turned to my section during wisconson game and said "you watch...this kid is a true freshman and is special"... next thing you know ginn was returning his first punt TD of the season.

Not sure the stadium was louder than the michigan game when ginn broke that punt for a TD down the sideline..

12-0 in 2005

collins and wells will be our RB recruits.
Tressel is God.

Collins offer went bye-bye and now the plot really thickens! Coach Snyder was quoted as saying they "are confident in the two " they are in on? What does this mean? Will Christmas come again this month?
