Running Back Commitments

The other RB is probably Anderson Russell. Getting Lenix just made the safety and RB position more secure. Collins would be a "wasted" schollie (for lack of better words).

Wells and Russell are probably the two. Gwaltney could be the other guy. Let's hope so.

#2 could also be Beanie Wells.

The staff knows, along with most people that care to know, that he is down to UM and OSU -- and only bringing in 1 this year has to make our depth chart look A LOT better to him.

Since he wants to get his recruitment out of the way, maybe he will be an early-February verbal commit?

As Mili reminded me yesterday, Haw is not exactly a small back. He was 6'1 210 and probably has bulked up some and can gain more if he needs to become our "big back."

If Smith regains the helm, the running game becomes less of a priority. His ability to threaten to run the option, off tackle, or QB draws up the middle give us a lot of versatility on 3rd and short.

If Collins can't come on board and Gwaltney heads to SoCal, I can't see Wells signing elsewhere. He seems primed to do so and would definitely like the prospect of coming in and being the only really big bruising back on the roster.

gut feeling is that gwaltney is a real long shot for the bucks.....
I've never thought we had a great shot at Gwaltney, also based on a gut feeling. But recently I've started to get a different Vibe. He mentions the NCAA twice, but in a matter of fact way. I'm probably infering too much from one article, but I've got a different gut feeling about our chances......

But, if I was to place a wager on his final school of choice, it would be WVU. But OSU is STILL in there, I'm telling you

IMO the mystery back is either Mike Ford or Curtis Brinkley. Brinkley hasn't been talked about alot but the kid is a hell of a player. Ford might be a great candidate aswell. I haven't heard much about Ford lately I know he is very underrated by the accounts of most the florida schools boards.

Ford Ready For USC Visit

By Phil Kornblut
RB Mike Ford (6-2 205) of Sarasota visited Alabama last weekend, his first official visit. "Alabama is a pretty good time," he said. "The thing that standouts is the academic part. I give them a 9.5 in that. Alabama is #1 because I've been there." Ford and his mother will make the visit to USC. He has been strong on USC throughout the recruiting campaign. "It's possible I could commit but I think I'm going to wait," he said. "If they show me a good time, I wouldn't mind, but it's all about the academics." Ford is also scheduled to visit Auburn on the 21st and Michigan State on the 28th.

Jayson White, FB (Erie-McDowell), gave an update a while back in which he said that OSU told him they were recruiting 2-3 big backs, and he was one of them. The feel was that the staff told him to hold-tight while they see what the other backs are going to do.

Maybe White is #2, or Ringer finally has the grades but they don't want to spook Mo Wells, or C. Wells is ready to come aboard, or there is a prep-school guy on the map (not FUMA, a different one with a name like Chapel Hill or something), or maybe they plan to bring in Robiskie, instead.
