S Anderson Russell (official thread)

I'm going to be on the same flight out of Atlanta to Columbus as him on Saturday morning. I plan on trying to speak with him and get him pumped about the Buckeyes. Hoepfully I'll be able to get some info out of him that I can pass back along this board.

If you do, that will not only get you a sheet load of green rubies, but also one of those cool new post awards...not that I'm promising anything.

Personal Update

I spoke w/ Anderson and his Mom before boarding the plane to Atlanta on saturday as well as on the plane ride up there. For starters he has a good frame and looks like he could fill out to 210lbs. He has big hands for a kid his size. He comes from a solid family as his brother graduated from North Carolina last year. You can tell that he was raised right and wouldn't be getting in off the field trouble. His mom said that they were coming this weekend as they wanted to experience what 104,000 was like at the 'Shoe. She asked a lot of questions and even asked how far Dayton was from C'bus as it was cheaper to fly to dayton than C'Bus. W/o saying as much she gave the indication that she was planning on a lot of flights to Ohio in the future. I asked him when we were getting off the plane if he saw himself in scarlet and gray next year and he said yes and smiled. I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't commit on his offcial in early December. He said his other offers were Duke, Furman and a few others that aren't on tOSU's level. I was hoping to get more out of him, but he slept almost the entire flight.

Thank god you were not around when AJ Hawk and some other less touted players were being recruited. Ashton Youbooty was rated as high as 45 cb in the country. I guess we should have passed because he wasn't top ten. Take rankings and stick em in your ass. I hope like hell this kid commits. I think the coaches know a hell of alot more than you or I know!!
FYI, Hawk had more big time offers then the likes of Duke and Furman. He had at least a PSU offer and more. Youbouty also had offers from big time programs like Oklahoma, PSU etc

Crazybuckeye,
He's seems like an intellegent student and he ran a 4.44 - 40 at the OSU Camp. The coaches must of liked what they saw in him at the camp. That and he seems to be a versatile athlete who can play a number of positions if needed. Coach Tressel loves that. He'd make a great Saftey at OSU.
A 6' tall Saftey who runs 4.44, running into some of these WR's ... Thats going to be a collision.

Lets keep this thread focused on one recruit .... Anderson Russel !!! All that other stuff doesn't matter!! A. Russel is a fine athlete who the coaches seem to think highly of and with 4.44 speed why wouldn't they? He also seems to be very intellegent. I think he'd be a great asset to OSU.
