S Anderson Russell (official thread)

Bucknutty is there anychance that we would take both Rowell and Russell? They are both safeties I believe. I would think it would be first come first serve and if so will the other one be left hanging?

That's a good question. I don't know where they are going to play all these guys. Maybe offering all these safeties tells us Jamario O'Neal is in fact being brought in as a corner. Everett and Salley will be seniors. Whitner and Mitchell will be juniors. Welch will be a sophomore and Patterson will be a RS freshman. There is also talk that Lukens might move back to the safety spot and he'll only be a RS sophomore.

Rowell is probably more of a sure thing than Russell and while you'd think tOSU vs. Duke football would be a no brainer I suppose Russell could go elsewhere. The possible offering of Washington as a safety thing is pretty surprising to me. I'm just not sure how many more safeties we need. I kinda think corner is a bigger need, especially if Ginn stays on offense full time. We need linebackers. Another rush DE wouldn't hurt and we certainly need a couple tailbacks. It will be very interesting to see how the class fills out.

Obviously the coaches see something we don't know about. I trust the coaches and if the kid verbals to OSU I will be happy.
I trust JT just as much as anyone as a talent evaluator but its just my personal opinion I feel with all the safetys we have now and with Jamario coming in, plus we only have a few spots left in the class, I would much rather hold out for an offer to Lenix and Ringer. Because the spot Anderson takes could very well be Freddie or Javon's

Would you rather have Lenix or Russell??

Ameribuck I think that there is something going on with the secondary that we don't know about. All these new safeties being offered. It seems like one a day I just don't understand it. The coaches must see a huge need for safety unless they are recruiting Russell as a safety but intend to use him as a back just don't want to scare off the bigger fish we got to fry. Mo Wells and Gwaltney.

"I'm coming up to Ohio State next weekend," Atlanta (Ga.) Marist running back Anderson Russell said. "I visit Duke this weekend. That's the only two I have set up. It's just those two schools pretty much. And maybe Furman a little.

Russell will decide between Ohio State and Duke.
"Duke offered. And Ohio State too. Ohio State mailed me an offer.

Ok forget that we've offered. How is Furman still in the equation when he has a chance to go to Duke? I'm sure he's just being nice to the Furman program, but even Duke is head-over-heels better than Furman in football, not to mention academics, location, campus, etc.

He wants to feel comfortable at the school he goes to so that if football doesn't work out he will be happy there. He felt comfortable at Duke so now it is tOSU's turn.

In addition, Duke will give him a chance to play right away at RB while he has been told he will likely redshirt at safety for tOSU. He says he has no position preference.

Brandon Mitchell will be his host and he will make a decision between tOSU and Duke soon after his visit.
