S Donte Whitner (Official Thread)

To me this shouldn't happen.....

DC, it was said in another thread that Fox could've played against Purdue but the staff rested him instead for The Game.
I don't agree with this becuase if Fox was out there he would have been much smarter than Underwood on that quarterback blitz play at the end of the game. Hold great players out, just so you can play rested players against Michigan; Who knows, Theses players might come out rusty against Michigan but wouldn't be if they played against Purdue. Just my thoughts!

he was holding him out because he wasnt 100%, and he wanted him to be 100% for the scum game.

he actually got in the game on an XP attempt.

I think that we've got a few tricks up our sleeves this weekend. I think you will see the best defensive performance of the season.

Fox will play, there is no way he won't play in his last home game. To take it a step farther, he will play very well I'm guessing.

COULD'VE played against Purdue, and SHOULD'VE played against Purdue are two different animals.

Yeah, he could've played and they would've gone at him knowing he has gimpy, or at least they should've...

Watch last year's KSU game (Fiesta Bowl) and pay special attention to them leaving in their slightly injured DB -- what did the "conservative Jim Tressel offense" do?

They attacked that kid until he was taken out of the game -- cost KSU a few points if I remember correctly.
Having him 100% for any game, especially this game, is better than 75% (being generous) for the Purdue game -- who knew EJ would implode?

Sure we all had our doubts about EJ, but nobody thought he'd make that big of a mistake in the game.

Plus you have to keep this in perspective: this season is over Win-wise. As many have said, once we lost those 3 games the difference between a 3 loss bowl and a 4 loss bowl is minimal.

Tressel also understands that the UM game will save this season. It wasn't worth wasting Fox at an away game we had a good chance of losing when the UM game is at home and is far more important.

I'm sure if he were healthy he would have played. But I definitely agree with keeping him out if he wasn't 100%.

I think if whitner plays this week its not only dumb but would hurt us in the long run.... Did you guys see the brace he was wear'n on his knee for the MSU game? it was freak'n huge, and if anyone thinks he can come in and play against these recievers you've gata be crazy? I'm not so sure that maybe resting him up for the bowl game might be a smarter move? what happens if he does long term damage?

actually the difference between a 3 loss bowl and a 4 loss bowl is rather significant. If osu would have won out and finished 8-3, they would be playing in a new yea's day bowl. the outback was basically set to take them if that were the case. now with 4 losses, that isnt going to happen. so i'd say its rather significant.

now the difference between a 4 and 5 loss bowl is minimal at best.

Everyone talks about if we beat Michigan than we had a Great Season. 6-4 so far (7-4 after the Michigan game) is not a great season with the talent that we have on this team. We should have only lost 1 or 2 games. We have underachieved this year I think. I know we have lack of experience but so does some of the top 25 teams. But like I say would've, should've, and could've doesn't amount to shit unless you do it! This year hopefully is a stepping stone for next years season!
