S Erick Smith (Official Thread)

I'm sorry but I don't see what you guys are seeing with Erick. The play he made on the ball against Army looked like a good play to most. But what I saw was a guy who was beaten badly, and yes, he made up for it but only because Army's QB put way too much air under the ball. Against anyone else on our schedule that's a TD.

Jordan Fuller has shown me a lot more in three games than Erick Smith. Would not surprise me if Fuller is the full time starter by PSU.

Iirc, he wasn't the one beaten in the Army play, it was Webb?

Agree, he only got to it because it was so badly under thrown

Ok, so on further review he did indeed save that TD and it was Webb who got a little nosy

so what, they are all Buckeyes. Love them all come hell or high water (unless they hit a woman).

O-H
This should be the post of the day.
With all the hand-wringing, bitching and moaning going on right now, what Jax said is the most important thing to remember!
I'm gonna love the Bucks win or lose, just as we all should.

Really would like to see Erick succeed, but just rewatched portions of the UNLV game, and his miss on the long UNLV TD run was about as bad as it gets for a safety--completely whiffed on the RB in the open field, allowing him to take what would have been a 15-yard game and turn it into a 55-yard TD run.

ugh i noticed that as well

Didn't make the trip to Rutgers; Meter said in the post-game presser that he "wasn't ready to play."

Safety Erick Smith, who has been seeing ample playing time of late, was left at home for another reason.
“He wasn’t ready to make this trip,” Meyer said.
Whether he will be available for Maryland will depend on if he is ready, Meyer said, adding the problem “is between me and him.” He did not elaborate.

Sounds like he may just be in Urban's "doghouse".

Anyone else get the vibe that Fuller was promoted to full time and Smith didn't agree?

Feel bad because before injuries he looked like he was destined to be the next great DB here, but there's no denying Fuller has been much better. I believe fuller is quite a bit bigger as well which is good considering Webb is already considered an undersized safety.

Yep. #4 is all over the field making plays and unfortunately when we see #34, it's the back of his jersey behind a play. That's no good. He has to step it up. Webb is finally making some plays back there so it's Smith's spot that seems to be the weak link right now
