LB Kourt Williams II (Official Thread)

Hickman and Young are also young.
Surely we are not going to relegate Kourt to mop up duty for another year or 2.

We will if he can't beat them out, and right now it doesn't look like he will.

What I've noticed about Kourt is he just always flows to the ball with great leverage. He's just always in position to make the stop.

His pursuit angles and position at impact are exactly why I think he might be an improvement over Shaw. He gets there quick and finishes. I'm not going to pretend to know more than the coaches, but Kourt looks like the player those same coaches were heaping praise on before he got injured. At the very least, keep getting him on the field, he is clearly a playmaker.

A good playmaker to have in versus physical teams like Whisky.

He's definitely better against the run. Not sure he understands the passing game yet (Shaw struggles here as well) but once he does watch out.

Knowles said Tuesday, however, that it remains undetermined how much Ohio State will actually use three-linebacker formations, in part because he believes safeties like Kourt Williams and Lathan Ransom are also capable of playing like linebackers in the box.

“We've been using it some,” Knowles said. “But we've also been experimenting with some things with Kourt and Lathan and a couple of safeties that may be able to get the job done without bringing in another linebacker. So there's development at the safety position that may not make that quite as urgent.”
