The Mets' interest in Sosa is waning, according to published reports out of New York. But Tom Reich, one of Sosa's agents, says he still believes that Sosa will be traded — and that the team that acquires him will be getting a highly motivated player.

"I think he will be traded, and I think Sammy will be one of the best pickups of the entire off-season," Reich told the Sporting News on Wednesday. "He deserves better than this. He's determined, absolutely determined — determined to remind people that he has a lot of productive time left. "People will look around and realize that this will be a helluva play. Everyone is dwelling on everything (from last season). Everyone has forgotten about everything this man has accomplished. Everyone also is living on this idea that, 'If it's Tuesday, it must be steroids.' "In my opinion, Sammy Sosa will be a very productive player, in 2005 and beyond."

The agent is pumping Sosa up pretty good, the guy will earn his money this off season. No way he stays with the cubs.

Sammy to the O's sometime next week.

Just heard on WGN radio that the deal for Sammy to Baltimore should finalize early next week. Didn't say any specifics regarding money or other players.

Heard it on radio. I'll look for a web link to post here.

The deal is contigent on Sammy passes his physical and dismissing his no-trade clause.

Heres the link on Sportsline. Cubs close to deal.

Good riddance to bad rubbish. The only thing worse than a whining prima donna is a juiced up whining prima donna, and the only thing worse than a whining juiced up prima donna is a whining, juiced up, prima donna quitter, and the only thing worse than a whining, juiced up, prima donna quitter is Sammy Sosa.

The only things that happen by losing Sosa are closing a big hole in your (right) outfield, cutting 200 strikeouts out of your lineup, and making the locker room an eminently more enjoyable place.

I'd take Griffey, who busts his ass (unfortunately literally) for 25 games over Sosa for 160 games any season.

Rumor: Sosa & Ponson won't be Orioles next year

As I said in another thread, the new interim manager for the Orioles is practically from my home town. My good friend went to their games over the weekend courtesy of Mr. Perlozzo. He was in the dugout before the games and had dinner with him Friday night. According to him, Sammy and Ponson are lazy, have quit on the team, and won't be back next year. He also thinks he has a good shot at being the next manager full time if he stays .500 during his interim phase.

not shocking. ponson came to camp after signing that fat contract and was out of shape. and sosa has shrunk dried up sponge. he is tiny compared to how he used to look. and his numbers are suffering as a result.
