My friend's father-in-law is flying him out to the Indiana game this weekend, niether is familiar with Columbus.They are looking for:
a) an upscale strip club, and
b) an area or district with good live music, bars , restaurants etc.
 
I've never been very impressed with Columbus area strip clubs, so I can't help you there. A good area for bars is The Arena District. Lots of bars within close proximity of each other. That's Nationwide Arena in Downtown, in case you're not aware of it. Brothers, Frog Bear, and the bar that used to be the Brickyard(Furmans or something) are good bars down there. There's also the group of bars on Long Street(the name escapes me, due to the mass amount of alcohol that I consumed there).

I can't decide whether my father-in-law taking me to a nudie joint would be a good thing or a bad thing. Would be weird, nevertheless.

I haven't partied in Columbus since the middle of the Clinton administration, and I understand most of my old haunts have been bulldozed in the name of 'progress'. Wish I could help you, crazybuckeye.

Pure Platinum or Columbus Gold are right next to each other on Bethal Road just west of Sawmil... The arena district or german villiage will prob. have live music...

However to be honest with you I haven't been to those area's for drinking in a while so I could be wrong... and as far as the nudies are concerned, we usually went up to Windor for a weekend of fun, so I'm only going based on what I've heard (basically if there aren't hotties there don't blame me... the blind is leading the blind on this suggestion)...

Club Secrets burned to the ground a few weeks ago, didn't it? No loss by any measure.

Pure Platnum and Columbus Gold, as menttioned previously, aren't bad. But they are different types of clubs. Columbus Gold is a regular strip club. Its not all nude and serves alcohol. Pure Platnum does not serve alcohol and is full nude. But you pay your $20 cover and bring in what beer and stuff you want. You can bring it in, but they can't serve you.

As for music, The High-5 and Little Brothers on High Street south of campus are great spots. So is Frog Bear & Wild Boar by Nationwide Arena. The Arena District is great. It would be better if there was Hockey right now.

I avoid Gerbil Village for personal reasons. But the Brewery District is cool.

I like the strip clubs on cleveland ave. between 161 and morse, Sirens on Cleveland near the 270 exit by westerville is supposed to be classy. You have to be 25 or older to get in so I'll be waiting a few more years.

Diamonds is worth if you want to make a roadie to Dayton

Not to hijack the thread, but can somebody help me with the philosophy of our liquor laws (I didn't know that you could now BYOB in juice bars).

Why is it OK for a 50 year old man to look at a topless 18 year old's breasts while drinking a beer served to him by a half naked 21 year old, but not OK for that same old man to look at an 18 year old's bush unless he is driking a coke? (Or - under the new rules - drinking a beer that he served to himself?)

Is this all based on some passage in Thessalonians that I missed?

Basically because in Ohio.. Topless isn't considered to be any different than fully clothed... thus, the 'topless' bars are just regular bars with topless women in them... The all nude 'bars' are obviously not bars at all... and you can't hold a liquor license and have naked women (bottomless) at the same time.
