This reminds me of the "Men on film" episode where Blaine/Antoine (can't remember which) was hit on the head and turned straight. The other one then spent the remaing time trying to hit him again so he would switch back. If you remember it....omg was it funny.

I can just see May sneaking up and clocking Trev in the head all season.

I may be in the minority here, but why do we still bitch about these guys? So Mark May never has anything good to say about OSU - who cares? They may influence the Joe Schmoe fans out there, but I honestly don't think either Mark May or Trev Albert have much influence over the pollsters. So why not give them the treatment they deserve and ignore whatever they have to say? If they didn't get any email complaints from OSU fans, I bet they wouldn't be near as venomous towards our buckeyes...

Many good points in this thread. Good indeed. Now that Trev thinks we're good we have to do some tribal chanting/reverse voodoo hexing/jump over a broomstick 3 and a half times and say the Lord's Prayer inverted to undo his witchery.

Hate to disappoint you guys, but this can't be Trevor. They don't learn words like palatable in Nebraska. :biggrin: Although, it probably wasn't the best term used to describe the schedule.

palatable - 1) Acceptable to the taste; sufficiently agreeable in flavor to be eaten. 2) Acceptable or agreeable to the mind or sensibilities: a palatable solution to the problem.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: except for the stupid "Iowa is the best team in the Big Ten" statements, Trev really hasn't slighted the Bucks, IMO. Plus, I think he really appreciates the fact that the Buckeye fans gave him so much pub & really helped his career with the "Alberts Sucks" thing in the 2002 season.

If you want to look at the real dumbass of the two, its Mark May. By a country mile.

I agree with Trev on this. Over the years, the B10 has been overlooked, but I don't think you can pick the conference as one of the Nation's best going into '04. Just look at it this way: OSU and scUM (the conference heavyweights) have big questions to be answered on their rosters. You can't pick the B10 as great when that's the case. In '05, that'll be a different story.

Our Bowl record is better than respectable. The B10 has had the best Bowl record of any conference in 3 of the 6 BCS seasons. We're also the only conference to have an undefeated Bowl season over that span in '98 ('99 Bowls).

As President of "Send that idiot back to Nebraska....and take Erkel with him" club. I really hate to hear Trev say anything positive about OSU. He lumped us in with Clemson, a team that could truly suck this year. I think this is a very bad omen.

I wonder if ESPN considers the vast demographic that OSU and the Big 10 represent? Do they realize how many people hate this duo? What implications does this have on ratings and/or sponsorship? I've considered starting a boycott of an advertised product until they dump Malfoy and Erkel. Maybe they'd consider replacing them with two more palatable talking heads like Charles Manson and Kellen Winslow?

Has there been a poll on this in recent years? I'd like to see what others think about:
1. Who's the worst/best analyst (we may have to leave Herbie out)
2. Who would you most/least like to hear call a game for OSU. I used to get physically ill listening to Mussburger's voice.

Of course they do. That's why they're still there. The point is not to garner the most love, but to get the highest ratings. More people will tune in who hate Alberts to see what he says next than people who love the analyst and tune in without rhyme or reason.

Think about it: How many of that vast OSU/Big Ten demographic made the Midnight College Football wrap-up on ESPN a must watch in the '02 season because of Alberts?

I think Terry Bowden is very astute. Corso/Fowler/Herbie are the best, but off the top of my head, I think Bowden is right after them. Keep in mind, that most CFB Analysts are biased and dumb: Craig James is a joke, Tim Brando is a pompus know-nothing, Kellen Winslow Sr. is a racist ass, Tony Barnhardt knows about the SEC and nothing else, whatever his name is (Wojoblonski, ESPN columnist) is a geek, and Beano doesn't follow the sport closely enough anymore. Other than Beano, you can throw the aforementioned ones in a hat and pick out the worst.

There's no question who I'd most like to hear call a game. I think Brent & Dick Vermeil were the best, but I like Danielson as well. I also love to hear Jim Lachey go crazy in the radio booth (although listening to Paul Keels is like listening to paint dry). As far as awful ones go, there's a ton: Mark Jones (scUM biased), Dan Fu**'in Fouts (remember this a-hole?), Bob Griese (the "My Son Brian" games were intolerable), and Todd Chistiansen seems more interested in Tim Spencer's traps and pecs than calling the game. I might have to pick Fouts for this one, just for the Fiesta Bowl disaster.

Trev Alberts: C'mon dude! Top 25 of all time, every sport! That's a reach! I had 3 surgeries in 3 years! What is the criteria? If a guy never gets hurt and is out of the league, that's a flop. I have never shyed away from the fact I did not have an illustrious NFL career. But you can't question my ability as a college football analyst because I stunk in the NFL. I've taken a lot of shots and apparently a lot of my chatters have as well!

Well trevie is still spouting off about Iowa...

I don't dislike or like Trevie boy. He was a punk when we won the NC, however he did say, congrats to OSU, they proved me wrong....

Mark May on the other hand still said we were lucky, and Cryami is a better team (after we beat them :crazy: )... May is a complete moron!! He needs replaced...

I've learned to see Treve as a comic, and don't put much into what he says... at least he admits when he is/was wrong though....

Mark May is a fool. I thought ESPN correspondants could not show bias toward a team but it's CLEAR that this poor excuse for a man hates Ohio State.

Calling us "lucky" when we beat Miami, there should've NEVER been an overtime period, Gamble not only caught the ball for a first down when it was called incomplete, he was held twice. Just because he went to a Big East school (Pitt) doesn't mean he has to despise a school from a TRUE POWER conference. By the way Mark, that's THE Ohio State University to you.

Why don't ESPN let Herbie and Spielman take these guys out back and clean their clocks? Now that's a duo I'd like to see call a game. I can't stand Musberger, that Purdue game in '02 when he's arguing that the ball wasn't snapped before time ran out in the first half on that field goal? Watching the replay he still was going on about it and the ball was clearly out of the long snapper's hands before it hit zero on the clock.

The Media has always had it in for The Ohio State University. But they LOVE the team with the ugliest helmets in all of sports. Honestly, scUM's helmets make me nauseous.
