That is priceless.

At first I was disappointed and wanted absolutely no relationship with a corporate sponsor for The Game. After thinking about it, this stunt might actually be more beneficial than we realize. I guess it all depends on how it plays out. Big time college football fans and casual fans in the midwest understand this rivalry. But, I think with the site (http://sbcinfo.com/top5/) and the unprecendented commercial time we can push this a lot harder to other regions and some of the younger audience (specifically recruits). Take it from someone that has moved 6,000 miles in the past two years because of the military; more than you would think have no idea what the biggest rivalry in sports is. It doesn't help when Roy Williams goes on at half-time declaring Eddie George thinks the Red River Shootout is a bigger rivalry.

exactly. I don't need fucking SBC to tell me that the _ichigan game is a "classic". I'm sick of constantly being drowned by commercials every which way I look. I wish all football games were on PBS.

I am surprised that it took the 4th page of this thread to point this out, but:

Why in the hell is it the SBC Michigan-Ohio State Classic? That is fucking bullshit man...it should be the SBC Ohio State-Michigan Classic. Go back to the bargaining table Geiger and get it right. :osu: :wink2:

Nevermind, answered my own question.

interesting notes from this Dispatch:

Ohio State will get first billing at next year’s game at Ann Arbor, Mich.

SBC will pay OSU and the University of Michigan $530,000 each for the two-year agreement. Officials of the two schools and the telecommunications company then will decide whether to continue the agreement.

The SBC Michigan-Ohio State Classic logo will appear on the Ohio Stadium scoreboard and on signs around the complex but not on the field, players’ uniforms or the coaches’ clothes.

OSU and Michigan officials considered several possible names for the event, such as "The Game," but chose to use the universities in the title.

Can't possibly be sponsored by Cialis! What if in the "unusual circumstance" where the game goes to overtime and it lasts for over 4 hours? Cialis has stated that getting up for over 4 hours is a dangerous medical risk - can you imagine a 105k people going to the emergency room at once?

I think it is a good idea. Nothing changes except SBC is now the official sponsor of the game... big deal!

The Athletic Department will get over half a million for basically doing nothing... nice way to pick up some extra coin to help pay for the Schott and the Shoe's renovation.

I don't have any problem with it... in fact I hope it works well for SBC so two years from now they will be willing to give us even more $$$ to re-up the contract...

Our AD doesn't get state money... it is totally self supporting. This money might be the reason OSU can keep a couple more non-revenue producing sports....
