Scholarship Breakdown by Class

So we've oversigned by six.

That troubles me, gotta admit it.
If the Dunn rumor is true, and if Reeves, Tanner and Bogart are indeed finished - we are only over by two.

With all the depth at so many positions, transfers - particularly after Spring practice - should not surprise anyone.

No worries.

Has there been an announcement on Dixon's status? The official stats have him with 1 game played. He should be eligible for a redshirt or medical redshirt and remain a freshman eligibility.
As I understand the rules one play burns your regular redshirt year. You can play and still get a medical RS, but you can't apply for that until you have used the remainder of your eligibility.

Dixon seems similar to James Clark who received a medical redshirt already. According to OSU official bio he played in 3 games. Maybe OSU is anticipating Clark receiving a medical redshirt and he hasn't actually been granted it. In any event the official roster still lists him as a redshirt freshman.

Edit: same for Darron Lee.

I'm not worried. No question in my mind we'll get down to 85.

That fact doesn't entirely remove my discomfort. All I will say about it, except that it happens in many places, and it's pretty much something you need to accept if you're playing Big Boy Football.

Hubbard is now listed as a DE on the official roster. You might also consider moving Samuel to RB, as Wilson and Marshall are the only two players listed at HB on the roster.
This. Also, Noah Brown saw action as H-Back when Dontre went down.

There's been speculation that Parris Campbell will develop into an H-Back/slot, too. Something to watch in the spring.

I don't think there's much doubt Joel Hale is going to move back to D-Line, especially with bringing in a 6-man O-Line class and Urban self-admitting today that the D-Line needed reinforcements.

Gotcha. And I agree, but the devil is in the details as to how reductions come about. I have had to bite my posting-tongue in regards to the three players Urban announced were likely "retiring" due to injuries. (I was tempted to post something along the lines of "just how long did Urban spend in that room with Reeves before he had a concussion problem." Or "How many times does Marotti have to 'Tanya Harding' Devan Bogard before he gets the message". But not everyone gets my humor.)

Depth creates its own incentives. After that the distinction between coaxing and coercion can be subtle. And I will readily admit that if I can live with waterboarding in Guantanamo I can live with it at the WHAC if it gets us more rings.

But keep this in mind. Despite having a reduced scholarship number for this past season we went through the entire year BELOW our limit and were giving schollies to senior walk-ons. That is not evidence of an SEC type atmosphere.

In any case, good read on 11W on this very topic.

It's best not to know how the sausage is made..applying social consciousness to the top Football and Basketball programs. There is a seamy underbelly to it. From street agents to oversigning to any scandal from Joe Pa on down.

Almost mentioned Brown myself, but OSU still lists him as a WR. Something to watch, however.
